Sometimes as an NYT books columnist you find yourself quoted in the Atlantic by Helen Lewis, who believes two odd things: 1. That nobody is reading Pratchett anymore (instead of all the time, as they should), and 2. That Pratchett’s politics are hard to pin down, and Reg Shoe is not a fucking hero.

One of the things I hate most* is that all of this awfulness is done in the name of protecting cis women like me. It's such bullshit. I've never felt threatened by or even uncomfortable sharing space with anyone trans. (* apart from the effect it has on trans people living their lives obvs)
