I think I remember writing this papyrus in a past life.
A 3rd century papyrus conjugating γράφω in the indicative
Here is a truly fascinating item. It's a leaf of papyrus from Oxyrhynchus. On it, someone has drawn out a table of the forms of the Greek verb γράφω ("I write")! Here's a splendid image of the verso...

- Basil of Caesarea, Homily on the Rich v. loose translation: "not even a river of wealth is enough to satisfy a woman" reading the patristics is so entertaining sometimes 🙃
I just think it's funny a professor of classics and translator of ancient greek is a controversial celebrity now. She's kinda that Indiana Jones archetype.
working remote has always created a bit of social distance with coworkers, but Slack is starting to feel more and more like I'm talking to a bunch of claudes with human profile pics :(
well, I didn't intend to spend today in Minneapolis, but it *is* nice to be in a civilized city every so often. (civilized: walk into a random coffee shop & they either have a flat white on the menu or aren't shook when ya ask for one)

I wonder if one of the reasons all the churches I've attended have been extremely politically diverse is b/c calvinistic baptists are such a weird mixture of traditions. You get the whole spectrum from theonomy thru normal 'murican church-state distinctions all the way to straight-up anabaptists.
putting together a to-bring list for my 2.5wks off & it's the dril candles tweet but books someone who is good at packing please help, my carryon is dying
Methodical's Pink Lady will always be my daily driver, but I picked up their summer blend on a whim with my latest order and I gotta say, that's one fine-tasting coffee.
any recommendations on how to represent an llm black box call in a flow chart? I'm thinking about repurposing a paper tape because it's vibey
I think one of the things I find most difficult to grok about the past is the default level of exposure to and acceptance of violence. Even when it's bounded by customs and relations: duels, corporal punishment (both penal and toward children), infanticide, slavery, fights, etc.
The monks throw hands surprisingly often about various things. You'd think there were stronger strictures against fighting.
so roman numerals were too much, but greek numbers were fine? suuuuure
Also, citations of citations are the worst, why do editors permit them? Why do I have to do your job?! (I’m reading this purportedly scientifically informed book somebody recommended Jimmy and I’m not having a Good Time.)
may the pillows of paper-authors who don’t wayback their online sources always be warm The point of a citation is that I can track it down. If it’s literally impossible to do that six years later, you have Failed at your job.

I've been trying to write more but struggle to meet my own standards for clarity & style. Frustrating.
