At the very moment when the whole world is watching the World Cup third-place play-off, Russia is carrying out what is surely its most intense ballistic missile attack on Kyiv to date. 24 ballistic missiles have already been launched. It’s hell now in Kyiv.

Whatever the cause of Lindsey Graham’s sudden death, it is very sad news for Ukraine. 🧵 1/
Upd. Russia attacked Ukraine with 73 missiles and 656 drones of various types. Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 40 missiles and 602 drones. Impacts from 30 ballistic missiles, 3 cruise missiles, and 33 drones were recorded.
Another terrible night in Ukraine. A massive attack +40 different missiles and +300 drones. At least 4 people were killed in Kyiv and 5 in Dnipro. Many more were injured, hundreds of residential buildings were damaged. Ukraine urgently needs additional Patriot missiles.

Today’s Russian attack on Kyiv changed nothing on the battlefield. Psychologically, it changed nothing either - except that Ukrainians now hate Russia even more. It did not make people demand surrender out of fear - it only strengthened their resolve. 1/
High probability that an Oreshnik strike has targeted the Kyiv region. Kyiv has reportedly been attacked by >10 ballistic missiles. Plus missiles launched from MiGs and Tu bombers are still in the air, along with Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea. Massive explosions reported across Kyiv.

You are warmly invited to join our interactive workshop at #CaféKyiv! As a mixed cohort of Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian PhD researchers in Germany, we will reflect on the ethics of working with a country at war. Let’s reflect together. Let’s ask uncomfortable questions. Let’s navigate the gap.
Another extremely massive Russian air attack on Ukraine. So many drones and missiles of all types - more than I can remember seeing in the past few months. The attack is ongoing. The main targets appear to be energy infrastructure in the western regions of Ukraine.
To be Russian today means: take a break, collect as many missiles as possible, wait a few days until the temperature drops to −22°C, then attack Ukrainian energy infrastructure in eight regions of the country with 71 missiles and 450 kamikaze drones - targeting what remained after previous attacks.

For your information, this is what one day of the so-called Russian “energy ceasefire” looked like - something foreign media outlets, for some reason, simply call a “ceasefire.” It is unclear when it began or when it will end. This is what it was like: 🧵
After another night attack on Kyiv’s energy infrastructure, 6,000 homes have been left without heating. In some of them, heating had already been restored twice after 2 previous attacks; in others, it had not been possible at all. How are the negotiations in Abu Dhabi going? Does Putin “want” peace?

'We're preparing for Oreshnik tonight,' my close friend from Kyiv wrote to me an hour ago. 5 min ago info: Ukraine is under threat from long-range ballistic missiles, and monitoring channels have reported activity at the 🇷🇺 Kapustin Yar site, which was previously used to launch Oreshnik at Ukraine.

Did I understand correctly that Trump considers it a generous offer when Putin proposes to sell electricity to Ukraine at low prices from the stolen Zaporizhzhia NPP, and after that he bombed the Ukrainian power grid? What kind of world do we live in if the POTUS considers this acceptable?
Here is Putin’s response. The attack on Kyiv has already been ongoing for about 12 hours. Twelve energy facilities have been hit; thousands of buildings are without electricity and partially without heating. The total numbers as for now: ~500 drones and ~40 missiles (Kinzhals, Iskanders, Kalibrs…).
At this moment, Kyiv is repelling a simultaneous attack by Kinzhal missiles, ballistic (other) and cruise missiles. Russia is targeting energy infrastructure.
