My general take on Piker is he's directionally not off in criticizing the U.S. imperial project and the dumbass demagoguery at home to buttress it the last 25-30 years especially, but he's also an easily ignored dumbass? Like, I ignore him as equally as I ignore the Pod Save America bros.

Piker is an influencer first and a radical second. He wants credit for being part of a movement but he also needs to always be the main character. He has nothing interesting to say but he knows how to say it in an attention-grabbing way. The branding is Althusser but inside the box it's Mr. Beast.

Yeah that statement was funny and tbh with some hindsight “Bill hires his relatives and buddies to run it like an old boys club” was probably the most likely path for this going off the rails; he was probably always gonna get the football part of it *somewhat* sorted out.

we have investigated and determined that Bill Belichick's eldest son and his closest friend in the world were both independently off doing bad things that we can't say out loud for legal reasons. it's fine though, and most importantly, it has nothing to do with Bill Belichick

Mike Rogers is a self-interested snake who doesn’t deserve our votes and last night is why — refused to face the people he claims to want to represent under the guise of some ginned up theory about an unfair moderator. Cowardly, disqualifying behavior from a man who doesn’t deserve it to begin with.

Abdul El-Sayed gives a thoughtful answer to the moderator’s question about how he would work with the White House. But I must also say, the repeated image of Abdul answering questions from Michigan viewers on one side of the screen with the empty podium on the other also speaks 1000 words.

On the flip of this, there's part of me that really appreciates that I can ask Matt Drinkall, as I did this morning, about the offense being bad for two weeks and he just basically chuckled and was like "yep it has been" while also talking in some depth about it and where things are headed, etc.
