Last yearโ€™s Republican budget megabill is devastating rural Virginia. Twelve clinics and hospital services have closed since it passed all in rural communities that can least afford to lose care. This is what happens when your rural health care is gutted to fund tax cuts for billionaires.

A gracious concession: โ€œI want to congratulate Abdul El-Sayed on winning the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. He is a doctor, a community health official, a Rhodes Scholar, and a dedicated Michigander. I am proud to offer my support as he takes on Mike Rogers in the general electionโ€ฆ

Democrats are consolidating as predicted. Excellent. Whitmer, Stevens, McMorrow and even Schumer rally behind Abdul El Sayed. He can and will beat Rogers who is weak and tied to an unpopular Trump and GOP. All gas.

...this isnโ€™t really about Trump or Blanche, who are, letโ€™s be honest, behaving in predictable ways. The more telling thing to watch here are the impotent Republican senators who naively believe they have actually done their jobs. www.notus.org/perspectives...

What Is Wrong With the Republicans Who Said Yes to Blanche?

It might be about as useful as a screen door on a submarine, but acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has formally rescinded the $1.8 billion โ€œanti-weaponization fund,โ€ which was a prerequisite for wi...

Three years ago, the Biden White House attacked me for saying "Democrats should be fighting on every possible front โ€” filing a flurry of lawsuits and exerting public pressure through the media." "The president's team wants to be more selective in picking legal fights." I feel sadly vindicated.

Air quality. I grew up in the Los Angeles basin in the 70s and 80s and remember having to stay inside because the smog was so bad - Stage 2 smog alerts, they were called. Apparently they haven't had one of those since 1988. Haven't had a stage one smog alert since 2003.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

in 2016 Elon Musk said he would build a fully automated factory in Fremont, California for the upcoming Model 3 and he then spent on the order of $2 billion on production lines that didn't work, forcing Tesla to assemble cars by hand in a tent but sure, now he's gonna do it on the moon

The $30 million AIPAC wasted in Michigan, wasted trying to help Haley Stevens, could have been used to fully fund and deliver 6 million malaria nets to sub-Saharan Africa. Or, it could have fully paid for universal free school breakfasts in Mississippi, America's poorest state.

Halfway through the week, furriends. ๐Ÿพ I got my paw out if you need a little extra support to hold onto. You donโ€™t have to carry everything by yourself. If today feels heavy, just know youโ€™re not alone. Iโ€™ll be right here cheering you on every step of the way. โค๏ธ #corgi #corgicrew #dogsofbluesky

A happy corgi dog sits on a colorful patterned runner rug inside a cozy home, smiling at the camera with its tongue out while lifting one paw as if offering a handshake or reaching out for a high five. Warm natural light fills the room, creating a comforting and welcoming scene.
