One Democrat says something mildly critical of Thanksgiving and the entire GOP insists all Democrats are laser-focused on ending the holiday. And then the GOP president commits a crime every hour and they insist it has absolutely nothing to do with them. How dare you even associate them with him?!

Let’s all take a moment to reflect on how monumentally stupid Chuck’s post is - cancel Thanksgiving? JFC Republicans will say ANYTHING to get their cult base all worked up. 🙄

With all due respect to the AI bot who just emailed me and Tom Sugrue to propose a bold new marketing strategy to optimize national sales on The New Suburban History, an edited collection of scholarly articles published with a university press two decades ago, I think that ship has sailed.

Correct. (Word counts etc.) It is also hard to overstate how much the establishment democrats and leadership were and are aligned with technology. The SV culture, the money, and the theory of mind — they are enamored with it.

The only thing I'd add to @tressiemcphd.bsky.social's fine work this morning is that the establishment Dems have an ideological blind spot around organizing. They overindex on capital-intensive forms of mobilization and are completely lost when it comes to labor-intensive forms of mobilization.

Now that Ross Douthat is gone, NYT Opinion should actually do a weekly Cletus Safari. Invite the people who actually matter to the GOP--the Groyper who wants to bring back segregation, the mega church pastor in favor of marrying children, the pro-fascism political theorist--and let them cook.

After the VRA, George Wallace suddenly redirected his attacks from civil rights workers to communists. “The reason he’s talking about communism,” said Alabama AG Richmond Flowers, running against Wallace’s wife Lurleen, “is because there aren’t 228,000 registered communists in Alabama.”

You're probably familiar with the events in Selma, Alabama, that helped secure the Voting Rights Act. But you might not know the story of how the Voting Rights Act then transformed Selma and the rest of the South. New post at CAMPAIGN TRAILS:

"The president threw a tantrum and filled his diaper" is a great insult and also a literal description of most of his public events.
