#IFBurgohonde #IFSierraOeste #IFAlmorox

Zooming in on Oregon, the enormous scope of ongoing wildfire outbreak is clear. Numerous large smoke plumes from dozens of active fires--which have now burned over 1 million acres in Oregon alone--are casting a broadening pall across the interior Northwest & N. Rockies. #ORwx

Megafires in Spain are easily spreading into areas that burned only 12 years ago (orange areas burned in 2014–2015). This confirms the relatively short period during which previous fires limit subsequent fire spread. In Catalonia, we identified a window of just ~7 years. (provi perim July 18th)
🧵 👉🏾 ecologistasenaccion.org/370606
Happy after a fantastic field day with our different partners discussing how to improve the way we quantify carbon stocks in shrublands, using field data and remote sensing.

See you on Wednesday, January 21st, to talk about historical fire regimes in California with the 2026 California Fire Science Seminar Series @cafirescience.bsky.social
Scores of fires, many that are huge, spanning the state of Victoria. Thank you to all the firefighters, you are heroes! No thanks to politicians that continue to ignore scientists & our evidence-based & urgent warnings about climate change, placing the lives of humans & others species at risk.
