What inspired you to become a writer? For me, it's the joy and challenge to create stories that I wish I could live in. Magic systems, beautiful & strange worlds, diverse characters in fantasy settings—especially ones that make me want to hug or throttle them. 😂 What about YOU?? ✨ #writersky

#RevPit showcase lead-up schedule:

On the left side: Meet the RevPit Class of 2026 in the lead-up to our agent showcase.

June 1: Pitch your book
June 2: Book tropes
June 3: Book playlist
June 4: Media similar to your book
June 5: Your first or favorite line
June 6: How you became a writer
June 7: Thank your editor
June 8: Showcase

Day something of #RevPit countdown: how did I start writing? I didn't always want to be a writer. But when I was 8, I wanted to be either a gymnast or an editor. So obviously I became a chemistry professor. And at some point I just... found myself writing. And I haven't stopped.

#RevPit Day 4 is comps for Chemical Solutions for Lonely Hearts. 💖 Steminist romcom a la The Love Hypothesis (Ali Hazelwood) 👩‍🔬 Saving the world with science a la The Martian (Andy Weir) And a tiny bit of history and philosophy of science a la Thomas Kuhn (but funny)

Three days until the #RevPit showcase opens! The first line of Chemical Solutions for Lonely Hearts is: 𝑇ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑖𝑠 𝑎 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑐𝑢𝑒 𝑚𝑖𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛, I remind myself, placing my shoes on the mat by the door. 𝐷𝑜𝑛’𝑡 𝑒𝑛𝑔𝑎𝑔𝑒. Bonus: I just learned how to format text on #BlueSky!

I learned a lot about launching a brand when I opened Ash & Elm Cider Co. I'm using many of those same tools to launch my writing career. I put some tips into this article. Check it out! How Launching a Writing Career is Like Opening a Business open.substack.com/pub/thewordw...
