Last week, the UN Security Council did not renew the mandate for inspections of ships suspected of violating the Libya arms embargo. So, EU naval op Irini's mandate for inspections ended yesterday. France & Greece opted not to request a renewal, fearing a veto & making little effort to avoid it.
