Starting Feb. 8 the NOPD will implement new policies regarding immigrants. Officers will only be allowed to inquire about somone's immigration status if their investigation depends on it. Also, a supervisor has to be called in if an officer sees ICE operations in New Orleans.

ICE says agents arrested 46-year-old Larry Temah from Cameroon on January 28 in New Orleans. ICE says Temah was a New Orleans Police recruit who was issued a gun by the department despite issues with his immigration status. NOPD says Temah had all the correct paperwork to be hired as an officer.

Almost two months since the start of Operation Catahoula Crunch, Governor Jeff Landry says immigration agents made 665 arrests in Louisiana. 293 arrestees allegedly have criminal histories but officials did not specify those alleged crimes or the arrestees’ immigration statuses.

13 ICE arrests were made at the Meta center site in north Louisiana this morning (Jan. 18). The arrests were made after traffic stops by the Richland Parish Sherriff’s Office. The sheriff says the 13 arrestees had no Lawful residence in the U.S. and none of them had a Louisiana drivers license.

The Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office says two dump truck drivers were arrested by ICE in a traffic stop on their way to the Meta data center in north Louisiana. Officials did not say why they were arrested. The drivers were from Honduras and Guatemala.

Former detention officer David Courvelle pleaded guilty for sexual abuse toward a Nicaraguan detainee in the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Basile. Court documents say Courvelle had sexual contact with the detainee multiple times while she was under his custodial & supervisory authority.

Vilma Palacios was deported back to Honduras Sunday morning despite disputing her removal order. The LSU nursing grad was arrested by ICE 6 months ago in Louisiana. Agents said there were issues with her asylum case, which was filed 14 years ago when her family fled Honduras due to gang violence.

Border Patrol reports that this Honduran woman was arrested by immigration agents after accidentally running a red light in Slidell and crashing into a vehicle used by Operation Catahoula Crunch. The Border Patrol did not release her identity but indicated that she is an "illegal immigrant."

New data shows Jefferson Parish Schools are seeing significant absenteeism rates in the week since Operation Catahoula Crunch started. One of the biggest drops in attendance is Terrytown Elementary which saw attendance rates drop to 59%.

Hundreds of people are at the Burlington parking lot in Kenner protesting against Operation Catahoula Crunch and recent patrols from Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino. Border Patrol has not released a complete list of people that have been arrested during the operation.

Neighbors and community activists in Kenner are warning people to stay indoors while Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovino and his agents patrol parts of the city in Day 4 of Operation Catahoula Crunch. The operation has many in the Latino community scared of racial profiling and harassment.

With Operation Catahoula Crunch in effect federal immigration agents are making multiple arrests across the New Orleans metro area. This is video from an arrest at Home Depot in LaPlace. The operation is supposed to only target criminal immigrants. No word on the identities of any arrestees.

The Department of Homeland Security finally confirms that the massive immigration enforcement operation has started in Louisiana. The operation is called “Catahoula Crunch” and is aimed at arresting criminal immigrants in and around New Orleans who have been previously released from jail.
