This is breathtaking dishonesty. He knows the contractor caused the damage, yet he’s still pushing a narrative that targets private American citizens. How is this acceptable to anyone?

The chilling thing about the Trump administration falsely accusing David Hearn is what it reveals: they have no hesitation targeting ordinary American citizens when it serves their agenda. It’s the same playbook they used with Alex Pretti, Renee Good, and countless others.
So incredibly sad to hear about Glen Hansard’s passing. A singular voice, a gifted storyteller, and one of the few artists who could make a room feel both bigger and more intimate at the same time. His music carried such spirit and generosity. A tremendous loss.
Seeing the President fall asleep in the middle of public events should be a major story, yet somehow it isn’t.
The optics of tonight’s White House Correspondents' Dinner are beyond embarrassing. We have a president who has actively worked to gut press access, silence dissent, and intimidate journalists. And yet, the industry decided the best response was a red-carpet schmoozefest?
You cannot claim to be the watchdogs of democracy while sharing champagne and hors d'oeuvres with the very people trying to dismantle it.
"Hillbilly Elegy" to "Helicopter Parent" is quite the political arc.
Vance’s security detail ‘fed up’ with hastily arranged personal and family travel requests

When you block the promotion of our top naval officers because they don't fit your preferred demographic, you’re not defending the country. You’re betraying the values that define it.

An American president being found liable for sexual assault is a national disgrace. It’s a stain on the country that will never wash out.
The food we eat, the economy we depend on, the security we count on, and the constitutional rights we’re guaranteed are all less safe because Donald Trump is President.
How many completely innocent people have to die before there is accountability? How are communities supposed to feel safe when federal agents act as judge, jury, and executioner?

So… it’s been more than four months since Donald Trump said that we’d won the war with Iran, and somehow the war is still happening. Anyone else noticing this.
For decades, even the sharpest military and diplomatic minds have struggled with the Middle East’s complexity. And then there’s Donald Trump — a man with a singular talent for taking a volatile situation and somehow making it so much worse.
We all know how this goes: Joe Biden’s choice of stairs on Air Force One got a week of headlines. Trump confuses Iran and Japan and Zelenskyy and Putin, and the coverage will vanish by lunchtime.
I don’t align with every stance she takes, but there’s no denying that AOC is an exceptionally smart and skilled politician. She’s consistently kept her footing in moments where so many of her colleagues have stumbled.
By all means, push the Democratic Party to be better, that’s fair and even necessary. But if your first instinct as a candidate is to attack Democrats instead of confronting Donald Trump and the MAGA agenda, you might be seeking the wrong nomination.
Sexual and physical abuse of women isn’t a partisan issue, it’s a national failure. What separates the two parties is whether they treat that failure as something to solve or something to excuse.
If we’re going to claim that character matters in public life, then it has to matter every time. Not just when it’s convenient. Not just when it’s the other side. A democracy can’t survive on selective outrage. The rules either apply to everyone, or they’re not rules at all.
A historically illiterate, unprovoked cheap shot at one of our greatest allies from a desperate has been clawing for an ounce of relevance.
Today is a good day to be honest about where the country stands. America reached 250 years, but shared public life has collapsed. Ordinary places feel tense. People expect conflict. Donald Trump didn’t originate the divide, but he made it a constant feature of daily experience.
Donald Trump gave Vladimir Putin more attention on Independence Day than he gave the country he’s supposed to lead.
July 4th at 250 years should have felt unifying. Instead, it showed how much of our civic life has fractured. I wrote about how polarization reshapes everyday moments and how Donald Trump accelerated that shift. If you're reflecting on what America means right now, I hope you'll read the essay.

The pathological narcissism is on full display. It is never about the country. It is always, exclusively, about him.
On America’s 250th birthday, unity feels out of reach. My new essay explores how Donald Trump has deepened cultural divides and transformed shared traditions into arenas of conflict. If you’re thinking about what we’ve lost, and how we begin to rebuild it, read here. And please share your thoughts.

Russia trained Iranian forces in tactics to kill Americans.
I don’t need an Independence Day message from Donald Trump. The day he pardoned the first J6 insurrectionist, he forfeited any claim to patriotism.
