I'm using a phone with the worst screen protector I've ever had the misfortune of feeling. It has a tacky matte finish, and it makes NOISE when I swipe on it. Like it's a fine-grit sandpaper, with a hint of stickiness just to make it more unpleasant. The phone costs $6800.

I've watched Mat Watson spec an Audi RS5 for... £119,000. It was the cheaper of two, the other costing £122,000. The world of brand new performance cars is absolute madness. Do enthusiasts, who aren't obviously rich, actually spend this? It's unfathomable to me.

I am in a writing existential crisis. No matter if it's a review, news, feature, editorial, or personal take, it often feels entirely pointless. I like what I do, but increasingly (like, years) I don't think anyone actually cares. Most of the time, I have no idea if what I write is even very good.

Suddenly feeling rather smug about buying a 24GB/1TB M5 MacBook Air last week. No cheaper on Prime Day, and in before serious price increases. It doesn’t usually happen this way! It’s also a big step up in performance over the 8GB M1 Air it replaced. Here’s to the new one lasting another 6 years.

A breeze encouraged me to go out and enjoy some natural air-conditioning. Genuinely nice with the roof and windows down. Roads are so sticky too, and the tyres were immediately warm. The temps in the 2nd pic were at startup. Crazy to see 60-degrees water temp in a car not used since Sunday!

The only way I could put together an interview piece today was by driving to Starbucks and working there. Too hot, even for me, to concentrate at home. Lovely AC at all times. Will see if it's possible to fit proper AC in my house, I don't have the space/window/patience for the portable ones.

When I pull the gearshift paddle in my 981, it changes gear. It came free with the car. When I give it the beans and change gear, there’s a *snap* from the exhaust on upshift. It was also free. What is Porsche doing.

So happy Rescene is having a moment and getting the attention they deserve. Love Attack is so fun, but Crash will always be my favourite. Slightly bizarre this has mostly come from Woni’s viral YouTube and Minami’s (pitch perfect) gyaru sampler video though!

Tonight’s film was The Substance. It loses its way at the end, but the rest is squishy and stylish, with great performances, and lots to think about. Obvious Cronenberg references, but it also reminded me of Yuzna’s Society. I’m enjoying my return to watching film again.

That stress spike my Oura Ring picked up? That would be the cat bringing in a mouse. Not an ex-mouse, a very much alive and kicking mouse, into the living room. Herding it to exit by the front door was quite the challenge, and house now looks like a bomb site. Cat’s freedom of movement revoked.

I've posted to Threads since the beginning, but have found the app less enticing recently. I learned why. It has become Instagram. Influencer filled, rage and click bait messages, and images and comments about a life I don't believe is real. I'd still like to enjoy social media, but not like that.

Really quite hot these last days, which means an opportunity for nighttime, roof down driving to enjoy some cool air. Tonight, it was glorious. Not only do I enjoy it, but so does the engine. Cool air Is good, bloody hot air all the time, not so much.

I write things for people to (hopefully) read, but I feel so self conscious pointing people that may be part of a story towards it. But I feel I should, especially when it’s positive. I want to say: “I wrote this, mentioned you, but i really don’t want you to go and read it. Just know it exists.”
