Gen. Caine and Adm. Cooper should put a statement now making clear the U.S. military will not follow orders that would mean committing war crimes, including military actions whose purpose would be to destroy a country or a civilization.

They wouldn’t be terrified of being indicted if they followed the law & not Trump.

Despite Hegseth’s bravado this morning, the last 24 hours are clearly the worst for Trump’s folly, with massive refineries hit in multiple countries. The impact on the US and global economy is going to be brutal and affect every American. This war is a disaster.
This moron continues to incinerate alliances that were built by far better people than him over the past 80 years.
Ukraine is holding back Russia and thus fulfilling the entire traditional mission of NATO without any soldiers or sailors from other countries. Trump is meanwhile demanding NATO allies leave the continent they are supposed to be defending to join him in a doomed adventure he chose in the Middle East
Fox hasn’t been this ridiculous hour after hour since they ran with Trump’s election conspiracies in 2020-21 before they got sued and paid $737 million. It’s a jingoistic alternate reality custom designed for right-wing boomers.
Yes, many Americans are struggling, but it’s good to know the first family can still afford the Earth’s most expensive provisions, says Guardian columnist Marina Hyde

President Trump’s administration spent the past year dismissing Europeans as pathetic and irrelevant. Now, as he wages a war alongside Israel to force regime change in Iran, he wants Europe to cheer him on.
Trump team bashed Europe for a year. Now he wants support in war on Iran.
European leaders are ramping up their response to the crisis spreading outside Iran but remain wary of a conflict that could have untold ramifications.

It will be tough for America’s global reputation to recover after this absolutely shameful vote.
So, the Trump DOJ failed to release files concerning an Epstein accuser with claims involving Trump... but did manage to accidentally reveal that the files existed? Americans are fed up with this administration’s mix of incompetence and corruption. Time to come clean.

“.. I'm no political strategist, but I'd confidently say ‘you're about as popular as you were back when you fomented a rebellion to overturn a free-and-fair election’ is a suboptimal flex.” @rexhuppke.bsky.social @usatoday.com www.usatoday.com/story/opinio...
Trump is melting down. One minute he’s raging, then he’s whining, then he’s threatening, then he sounds like he’s about to cry. Rambling off on tangents. Totally unhinged manic.
Crockett: "All this administration cares about is protecting the powerful and protecting pedophiles. They will do anything to distract from that, including deciding to put up in the middle of Black History Month the most racist thing that we've ever seen come out of a White House."
It’s election year so Lindsey Graham is begging for money on Fox News. It brings me such joy to know he probably lays awake at night trying to figure out how the hell a pediatrician is out-raising him. Let’s keep the pressure on. 🇺🇸💙
In a remotely sane universe, this would be disqualifying and career-ending. The political world would recoil, and the fundamental decency of the America people would be outraged. The raw rancid racism is neither a joke nor a close call. In Trump’s world… open.substack.com/pub/charlies...

Bruce Springsteen’s “Streets of Minneapolis” calls back to protest music’s glory days, Spencer Kornhaber writes—and though the Boss has sounded bitter and mournful before, he has never sounded “this purely angry”:
Rage in the U.S.A.
Bruce Springsteen has never sounded angrier than on his new song, “Streets of Minneapolis.”

Stephen Miller called the victim, an ICU nurse at the VA filming ICE, a “domestic terrorist who tried to assassinate federal law enforcement.” Greg Bovino said he “wanted to massacre law enforcement.” You saw the videos. How can any Republican not call for their resignations?
Not a “paid protester.” Not an Antifa battalion commander. Not “bussed in from out of state.” A registered nurse at the VA who broke no laws and cared about humanity. Murdered by the Trump Administration.
On the execution in Minnesota: Obviously, the individuals involved should be held accountable. But responsibility goes to the top of ICE and CBP, and DHS. Their appropriations come up next week in the senate. Not a cent for DHS without pulling ICE and CBP off the streets, in MN and everywhere else.
All of this is fucking senseless. Minnesota did not have an immigration problem. Trump sent his Nazi thugs here because he's racist against Somali people and to own libs like Tim Walz. Now two Minnesotans are dead and Minneapolis is on the verge of going up in flames. None. Of. This. Was. Necessary.
The video is out. We can clearly see one of the federal agents shooting the man FIVE TIMES — after he’s lying on the ground!! From an eyewitness: “They killed that guy! Did they fucking kill that guy? Are you fucking kidding me, dude? Now I get it. Are you fucking kidding me? That guy is dead!”
ICE must be stopped. It's leaders should be prosecuted. Later we can discuss how to create a law-abiding, public-serving agency to police our borders. But it can't be this tainted, criminal agency. That's not an extreme position. It the only way to address this existential threat to our society.
There has been an increasing sense in Minneapolis that we are on our own, that our elected representatives are unwilling and/or unable to take action to get these murderous Nazi thugs out of our community. I really hope that changes today. The time for pleading TV hits ended weeks ago.

The choice is impeachment and removal or calamity for the United States. I don't see how anybody watching Trump's speech in Davos can draw any other conclusion. He's a senile madman.
Carney: "American hegemony in particular helped provide public goods, a stable financial system... this bargain no longer works. Let me be direct. We are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition... recently, great powers have begun using economic integration as a weapon. Tariffs as leverage ... "
I will never get over the fact that the Republican Party chose as its standard-bearer, and this country elected as its President, quite possibly the worst human being on the planet.
Trump: "ICE is gonna be too rough with somebody. They're gonna make a mistake sometimes. I felt horribly when I was told the young woman had the tragedy. But when I learned her father is - I hope he still is, but I don't know - was a tremendous Trump fan. It's terrible. It's so sad. It just happens"
Mark Carney gave the best speech at Davos by far. He understands the situation with clarity while others prevaricate, appease, and send late-night “Dear Donald” texts or call him “daddy.”
