DOT is looking for feedback on the proposed Bergen/Dean bike boulevards. Please submit via the portal. Folks are already freaking out and going to extremes about them, so we need cooler heads to offer support and constructive input so we can make 2 of the busiest streets for bikes in the city safer.

Sure would be good if Governor Hochul hadn't preemptively taken variable pricing and raising the congestion fee off the table just because the NY Post got angry. On bad AQ days and during periods of excessive heat, we need more tools to reduce discretionary driving.

Usually Mamdani understands that you only have one shot at capturing people's attention. He doesn't have as much responsibility to explain what's going on as Congressional Democrats do, and I'm glad he always makes an affirmative case for immigration, but this still misses the mark.

The upcoming midterm elections are going to be contested amid a broken Voting Rights Act, "rigorously" invalidated campaign-finance laws, and federal election commissioners who can be fired for no reason. The only people who voted for this absurd legal regime are the unelected justices on the Court

I will once again remind folks that a very sizable chunk of what looks like Congress not doing anything to push back against the president is in fact a consequence of the Court disabling/destroying all the ways Congress has tried to push back.

Gondolas are pretty great and there are places where they make sense. Metrocable in Medellín comes to mind. But it is remarkable the extent to which North American politicians are allergic to reducing the number of cars on the street and figuring out other ways to make buses move faster.

The trans sports ban are almost completely an invention of the media, conservative and mainstream. it has been years of lies, of shoddy fact checking on just completely false conservative claims, years of phony concern trolling.

In a neighborhood where lots of people lack access to cooling infrastructure and many families don't have the resources for summer camps or vacations, this is an injustice. The next nearest pool, the Double D, is also closed right now, and it also serves a lot of families in NYCHA buildings.

Alito's use of the term "birth tourism" is as sure a sign as any that his brain has been fried by X, Fox News, and other rightwing media.

Court can't go on like this. The Constitution as plainly as possible says people who were born here have an unequivocal right to citizenship. Four people whose ONLY job is to read the Constitution for the rest of their lives just tried to overturn it because they're tired of brown people. Pack it.

Can't wait for the 'founders surely foresaw AR-15s (but not citizenship)' ruling that's sure to follow.

It’s important to keep today’s birthright citizenship decision in context. First, SCOTUS left the status of a fundamental, explicitly articulated constitutional right uncertain for over a year all to affirm what was clear from the issuance of Trump’s EO. Birthright citizenship cannot be abridged.

After all this talk for years from Fox News about "radical judges overturning the original Constituion" we now have actual activist judges overturning the original Constitution. And you'll never guess what side they're on!

expand the court. no more half measures. this is intolerable.

See, people always want to make this just about "sports," but the real upshot here is that, 6-3, trans women can't make a claim under the Equal Protection Clause. And if they can't do that, it's hard to see how they have constitutional rights.

Yeah, the fact that they even took the case should be seen as an emergency that is by no means over just because Roberts and Barrett probably wanted to keep up appearances.

Birthright citizenship remains the law of the land. Out of many, one!

The clear & obvious text of the Constitution wins by the slimmest possible margin at the 'court' that claims to be its most solemn guardian. This means the fascist movement currently in control of the US federal government is just one (1) vote shy of what it needs to fully suspend the Constitution.
