It’s not just me, right? “Hello and it’s another episode of that podcast you like!” Ooh great! “And this week we’ve got a guest with us, it’s -’ Aaaaand no thank you. Skip.
If you get the chance to see the Operation Mincemeat musical, may I just heartily recommend you seize it with both hands (and possibly your feet too if you have the dexterity). We watched it last night in Notts and it was just about the best thing I’ve ever seen in a theatre! Just brilliant stuff!
Today in ‘albums that Andy somehow missed when they came out’ - The Surface by Beartooth is really, really good?!
Ok 11th is a lot of fun! We only managed two turns between learning and nattering, but I really like: - The new dispositions system makes stories just spring into life - The battle tracker on the app is brilliant - The new DP system made us both try out new detachments and we really enjoyed them
I’m reading through the 11th ed 40K rulebook and it’s just struck me: this is my 10th time reading a new edition’s rules. On and off I’ve been doing this for about 33 years. That feels like quite a privilege, to have enjoyed a hobby for so long through so many incarnations, and stages of my life.
Pet peeve of the day. “Trailer starts now”. Yes. I know. I’m watching it.

I was on holiday when it dropped. I have now been able to pick up my box. Result: very happy Andy
Second batch of Freebooter Beast Snagga Boyz painted, which means the mob is done! Waaagh!
They are 100% correct when they use the term ‘misery’ about hay fever. It’s beyond a joke this year, got to say.
Still WIP. Basing paint just went on, and each model needs individual treatment for rust, stripes, glowy gubbinz and weathering, then the entire mob needs its basing finished. BUT the second 10 Beast Booterz of my mob o’ 20 are nearing the finish line!
You know what? I REALLY enjoy painting Orks. Especially their faces.
Ah the traditional ‘ferocious hail followed by massive thunder’ that we’ve all come to know and love in… *checks notes*… June. Hm.
Mandalorian and Grogu: overall, a lot of fun for a feature length episode of the tv show. Had a few pacing issues and the muscle slug was not my favourite, but the assortment of Star Wars fun, simple feel good adventure and weird little guys worked for me. Best Star Wars since Andor, for my money
1) So. I’m thinking of doing a ‘thing’ for 11th ed where each of my 40K armies has a story progression beat and I play into it for the full edition. My Necrons’ Phaeron Arkhassa will be joining Nekrosor Ammentar’s followers. My Word Bearers will be laying siege to the stellar empire of my friend…
Well. I have to say I really enjoyed The Backrooms

Chapter fifteen finished. Got the finale to write. We are just a few chapters away from the first draft finish line! Then, of course, all the self-editing work begins before I can hand in my draft to a REAL editor, but we take the wins as they come.

Springwatch is giving me a newfound love for little grebes: little dinky muppet birds!
Labour of love these ladz, but my Freebootin’ Killa Kanz are finished at last!
Hot Fuzz. Contender for ‘best third act of any movie ever’.

Another 5k written today and ALMOST finished act 2 of 3. Ran out of steam before finishing a big scene though and didn’t want to do a poor job of it, so that’ll be the next writing sesh.
You know you’re middle aged when bank holiday Monday involves this much gardening

Holiday to Wicken Fen was very photogenic (and an amazing rest in nature)
