If you support any kind of automatic law enforcement, you're not my friend. I don't give a fuck about the public safety benefits of e.g. license plate cameras cameras or in-car speed limiters or automatic tax audits, they're invasive and anti-social.

UK public has a weird attitude to local govt. Most people doubt councillors can sort potholes but today I've been asked to deliver peace in Palestine! (Asking councillors to sign pledges on Palestine is worthless performative nonsense that achieves nothing, just stop! We've potholes to fix)

We face huge challenges to our society and our ecosystem. We must take actions to make changes, many involving hard choices. We can't change history or uninvent technology that's harmful, we need to build using systems and tech we have. The big failure of the Green movement is just saying NO.

Cycled to work this morning. It felt great. That is all.

For amusement of councillors I've just put a post on my ward's local FB group thanking Highways England for a decent job on a new cycle along A52 Derby Road (a main arterial into Nottingham) You think I'd praised killing of the first born. No regrets, it vital to acknowledge improvements.

I appreciate that saying this here is pointless, but anyone still voting Republican in the USA today is truly despicable. The mid-terms has to be about impeachment of Trump and his whole coterie.

I love cycling but in the last week I've had a flat tyre (changed) and an issue with my rear derailleur (beyond my skills to diagnose / fix) on my main bike and a puncture / shredded rear tyre on my spare bike. Noe trying to get to the bike shop to get those sorted. Enough already

Just explained postal system to uni student son. He was as baffled as that time I tried to explain internet banking to my parents. (So you put sticky bits of paper on envelopes and then put them in boxes where they collecvt at specific times) Not sure his mum's getting her birthday card on time

Central London is a much nicer city to spend time in than it used to be because of huge reductions in vehicle numbers and road speeds. The reduction in pollution is very welcome, but so is reduced noise and ease of crossing roads. EV are great. But cities aren't ideal places for any vehicle.

This is a great read. EVs have many benefits, but the goal should still be reducing overall car dependency. When I'm biking or walking, an EV poses the same risk to me as any other car -- and in many cases, a *greater* risk because of the size.

Just been over the Nottingham Waterside Bridgefor walkers and cyclists for the 1st time. Thronging with people on bikes and foot. Proving every "white elephant" comment immediately superfluous. A fantastic improvement to our city. We'll done all who made it happen
