This budget has brought some breathing space for hard-pressed families with some positive policies. It is a down-payment on Labour's long term plan and a step in the right direction.
The privatised Royal Mail is in crisis. It should be brought back into public control to deliver for the people, not for profiteers. It's welcome that a range of colleagues including @darrenpjones.bsky.social have spoken up on this issue.

I was delighted to be at the official opening of PD Ports' new multi million pound Tees Marine facility at Cargo Fleet Wharf. Their teams are responsible for dredging, surveying, piloting and so much more. They keep trade moving and support businesses along the Tees and beyond.

I have been pressing the government on this. Cleveland Police have complex challenges and the highest crime rates in the country but with the lowest resources. We need an urgent and significant correction of funding to keep our communities safe.
