Our new version of dbdb.io tracks the commit history of open-source databases. We also track which coding agents are tagged in commits. Copilot has the most overall usage but Claude occurs in the most recent commits.

Histogram of the number of database systems that use an agent in at least one commit since 2022.

👊I've joined the crew at @clickhouse.com to establish the *ClickHouse Labs* research group. We'll be working side-by-side with ClickHouse engineers to cook up ways to make the system even faster. I'll also be exploring new research topics related to PostgreSQL. clickhouse.com/blog/andy-pa...

My former #1 PhD students @wslim.bsky.social @17zhangw.bsky.social have a new startup @onewill.ai on controlling agent behavior. Git protects your code. But agents do more than spit code. Databases already solved this. OneWill makes agents live database-centric lifestyles. Demo: youtu.be/7zeeaklngTE

Unreliable systems and misbehaving agents are surprisingly similar. Odd behavior. Messy leftover state. After graduating from @andypavlo.bsky.social's lab @db.cs.cmu.edu, @17zhangw.bsky.social and I started @onewillai.bsky.social to adapt decades of database solutions to today's agent problems.

I'm excited to announce CMU-DB's DJ Cache ran the whole @cmu.edu circuit by winning the "Most Dank DJ" award again! This semester was the most vicious bracket ever seen in the cut. Every set was a straight-up street fight on the aux. Congratulations!
