I've been rooting for Agentina in the Mundial since 2010. USMNT since 🤷🏽‍♀️. Colombia since this year cause we've got a Colombia fan in our lives. But that's kind what I love about the World Cup. It can be patriotic but it can also be about the beautiful game and the story of these players and teams.

Uncivil language that's directed upward is part of a healthy democracy. And the moderation tools we've built for public conversation with public broadcasters make that distinction. This feels like an especially important distinction on the eve of America's 250th 🇺🇸

A healthy democracy thrives on debate. We don’t want toxic and chaotic spaces, but sanitized, hyper-civil spaces aren’t the goal either. As @angelquicksey.bsky.social, Managing Director at New_ Public, says here, we benefit from respectful conversations with lots of friction, even arguments.

Listen. I love Kraft Mac and Cheese. But I also appreciate organic produce. I think that is how social technology could evolve too: From mass market social media to bespoke, local-first options.

The guy starting a pizza restaurant didn't set out to make trash pizza. And the entrepreneur building a new social app or consumer product, usually doesn't set out to eXtrAcT mAxiMuM vAlUe fOr tHeiR sHaRehOLdErs. But financial gravity often pushes them in that direction.

Such a big deal. I was excited to be in the room - and what @newsmastfoundation.org, @blackskyweb.xyz, and @sill.social are doing really matters. These are all projects that solve real problems for real communities, aligned to the values of the open social web. Congratulations to all.
