It doesn't matter now many times I get taken down in Marathon, as long as I can end on an exfil I will be on cloud nine.

Started up 007 First Light today and I was immediately captivated by it. It's everything I want from a Bond game and the intro sequence into the title sequence is perfection. I was in love before I even got to the much discussed interactive montage. I can't wait to see it to the end.

Politicians are always saying that they are doing terrible things "for the choldren" that kids don't want. This is not one of those times. 😅

Today, I signed an Executive Order temporarily repealing bedtimes in the City of New York so that kids of all ages can watch our team in the NBA Finals. As Mayor, you’re forced to make many difficult decisions. This was not one of them. Go Knicks.

Got back into Marathon with the new patch and I'm in love again. Even got to take out an assassin, that big dummy.

You know that thing where you leave a piece over night to work on it the next day with fresh eyes, but when you come back it looks like ass? Yeah, that's me today. 😭

I've had three good exfils today. I feel like I can do anything! #Marathon

Art journey time! It has been 16 days since my last drawing. (why does this sound like a confession?) I finally decided to get out of my own way and put pencil to paper. The warmup was a bust, but my second, a reproduction a manga character, was a lot better. Oh, I'm rusty! My hand is so shaky!

I have to say, Marathon is 100% more fun with the free kits. I only take out a build when my vault gets full and I always lose it before the first exfil goes up.

No matter what else is going on in Marathon, I will always take the time to honk the horn in Hauler.

Made it through the #Marathon tutorial is one try this time. LOL

Art journey update... I drew again today. It was bad. I will try again tomorrow. 😞

The art journey continues! I have run aground on my Proko course's next assignment, a master line art study. Since I skipped a lot of the formative experience of drawing favorite characters, I have decided to dig into a long time favorite, Shirow Masamune. His manga work only because OMG.

Two things: 1) You can tell this guy doesn't make his money from the algorithm. Easy to talk when you have no skin in the game. 2) Developing a new way of speech to circumvent their oppressors is the most punk thing to do! It's crazy seeing online people so stoggy and dismayed by a language shift.

"Unalive" "grape" "seggs" This has got to stop. Do people hear themselves? Its like talking to a particularly sensitive toddler. We can't remove serious words from our language just because we're afraid some fickle algorithm will show our posts to less people

Probably Robocop 2. I spent the entire movie in a perpetual state of tension because there is no title card until the very end of the film. This was years before titles running at the end became de rigueur. I was too young for that kind of change.

AI gets the whole problem backwards. I want technology to let me work less so that I can be more creative, I don't want it to do the creativity so that i can work harder. What a miserable life that would be.

Art journey time. I decided to just draw something and ended up with this. I need to dive into anatomy soon so that I don't embarrass myself. And if I knew I was going to finish this, I wouldn't have drawn at an angle. But! Lines are going about where I want so that's progress!

Art throwback day! I found a school project I made when I was five. (Still coming to grips with the fact that I was in kindergarten in the 70s.) Here we have a brown bear, clearly modeled on a stuffed animal, drawn in brown crayon. This book is the earliest proof that I once enjoyed drawing.

Still too negative from me, so it's art time again. I drew this today after watching too many Akihito Yoshitomi videos. It's probably the favorite thing I've done so far. But even better, I can see several things that I want to improve. That means I have concrete learning goals now. Success!

If you want to stop people from using cliched and overused words, I say go for it. Throw out "immersive" too. Reviewers rely on too many crutch words. But saying an emphasizing word is being used inaccurately is some prescriptivist bullshit. Language is mutable. Just ask "literally."

I'll bang this drum till the day I die. I've said it before and I'll say it again Using addictive as a descriptor for a video game is lazy and almost entirely inaccurate to the point you're trying to get across. Balatro is not destroying the life of you and your loved ones, you just like the game

18 days since I posted proof that I'm actually trying to learn art? I promise I haven't given up. Here is a thoroughly embarrassing, sausage-fingered rendition of a hand doing that thwipy thing. I really need to work harder so that I can post less embarrassing art.
