Toymaker, activist, nerd. Pause AI ⏸️ Calling for an international treaty to pause the development of unsafe Superintelligence.

"Science is not about building a body of known ‘facts’. It is a method for asking awkward questions and subjecting them to a reality-check, thus avoiding the human tendency to believe whatever makes us feel good." - Terry Pratchett (gnu)

I've been pretty burnt out lately 🥲 So I'm having an artsy Sunday with good music!❤️ PauseAI is having a protest 5th December 😀 A little birdie told me there might be an art competition for the best signs. Using my insider knowledge to get a heads start! 😆 Shh! Don't tell! 😉

Annnnnnd one week later here we are! :') We can't just leave it to the labs to sort out among themselves People invested a lot of money in these companies. They want their returns! A coordinated slowdown "would reduce the value consumers get for paid AI subscriptions"🙄 apnews.com/article/anti...

Lawsuit says Anthropic, OpenAI, SpaceXAI and Google made illegal agreement on AI slowdown

A new lawsuit claims that Anthropic, OpenAI, SpaceXAI and Google illegally agreed to slow their AI development. Filed Friday in the U.S.

He's not wrong... 🤷‍♂️

On my way home after an incredible day at the Pause AI protest! We were asking Andy Burnham to call a summit to discuss AI risk and international agreement on a pause when he hosts the G20 later this year. Lots of moving speeches! And fun as well. Will be very excited to watch the evening news!

It's crazy to me that tech companies can refuse to allow the UK to test if the models are safe before they release them to our general public. That should not be standard! Really glad to hear Kanishka say that he is willing to act! www.thetimes.com/uk/technolog...

‘People have to come first’: AI minister calls for tougher rules

Kanishka Narayan, the artificial intelligence minister, tells the Times Britain must bolster cyber defences and force tech firms to test models before deployment

It's great to have such cross party support! Leaving AI unregulated is extremely unpopular, but still the government hasn't acted. If you're in London tomorrow, join this peaceful protest at Downing Street to make your voice heard!

MPs and peers across parties are sounding the alarm on superintelligent AI. The warnings have been heard. It's time to act. We need to prohibit the development of superintelligence.

Bloomberg's Odd Lots is good. They've been skeptical and grounded for a while when they cover AI stuff Their opinion has evolved with the evidence and they don't flinch away from reporting on stuff we're seeing happen today I reckon they've underpriced the future weirdness, but so have we all!

I saw this great explanation of the bill by Andrea Miotti! @andreamiotti.bsky.social This is not a bill that limits British tech growth. Just prevents ones more powerful than us capable of subverting our government. It also sets a precedent and is the first step to an international treaty.

With 71 colleagues I am calling on the Govt to work with us on my bill to prohibit the development of superintelligent AI and champion an international agreement We can then lead on preventing the extinction risk posed by superintelligence while preserving strategic AI ambition

Incredible achievement! Congratulations! 🎉 This is the first step towards an international treaty. I was at London PauseCon 2026 last weekend. People from all around the world working together to get their governments to come to the table. Chapters from across the UK, Europe, Canada, Nairobi etc.

Last a Friday, I met with my local MP as a concerned constituent to talk about risk of catastrophic from loss of control AI. It took a lot of work to make! So I thought I would share it here! :D Who knows, it might be useful for you too :D
