Not the clearest photo but, suits the theme! #BirdOfTheDay #RedOrDead (Any bird with red in the capture but not on the bird, or a photo of a bird on bare winter branches.) This is both. Red twig dogwood branches grow red in the winter. A nice backdrop for this Golden-crowned sparrow. #birds #nature

#TheCampfire Went to the Oregon Country Fair this summer ~ first time in a long while. Held on 500 acres of protected land, it's a gathering like no other. A fair adrift in an eccentric Avalon or something, a place of hope, optimism, acceptance, where artists and dreamers rule, and love always wins.
A great blue heron not wading at all at the moment... Standing in an abandoned rock quarry with the water just out of frame, below. 🪶 #BirdOfTheDay #FabulousWaders #birds #heron #nature #photography
In 2013, was visiting a friend who lived in the middle of nowhere. Driving down a lakeside dirt road, I suddenly saw this bald eagle way up in the tree. It was pretty thrilling. Started noticing birds more and more after this... #BirdOfTheDay #Firsts #birds #nature #photography

Woke up just past dawn to a lovely bit of a rainbow a couple weeks ago. No rain anywhere, just a bit of rainbow. Then it was gone. Put me in a good mood all morning. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekEForEphemeral #rainbow #nature #beautyintheworld
Our local volcano this week. Glad she's a calm one. I think she's beautiful. #MountainMonday #volcano #nature #photography

Curves. So many curves. ...and two bird friends. See them? About to sip more water from the creek. Felt so honored they didn't fly off, they just stayed there. #AlphabetChallenge #Curves #birds #BirdOfTheDay #photography #nature #hotday #summermorning
One of my sons got engaged to his girlfriend this week ~ our whole family is celebrating a great pair of humans who found each other. Here's a dahlia! Looks pretty and celebratory, right? 💗🎉💍 #flowers #dahlias #engagement #happyhappy #love #family

'Rosie the Riveter' roses. 🌱🌹 Changes so much as they age! And now that it's quite hot every day, they've grown very pink. This photo taken in June while it was still mild. The ivory-toned ones are the oldest, the rich oranges just bloomed. #RoseWednesday #flowers #bloomscrolling #inthegarden
Attention Alphabetters! This is your reminder that Mon 15 Jun is the start of Week X and the theme for the #AlphabetChallenge is Xyloid. Don’t panic-it just means woody! Actual wood and anything resembling wood so lots of scope. Best I could do that isn’t xylophones 😂 Use the # below and have fun😊
friday tiny note: field study 📸 ordinary does not mean unimportant. subject: a tiny heart on the forest floor, waiting to be noticed. — what small thing did you notice this week? #FieldNotes #Photography #Nature

Crater Lake. Deepest lake in the US, ninth deepest in the world. Formed in the caldera after an ancient volcano, Mt. Mazama, blew - 7700 years ago. This lake looks just as unreal in person! Amazing sight. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekWForWater #lakes #volcano #geology #Oregon #nature #beautyintheworld
