Many of the Trump Administration’s policies are making it harder for low-income families to afford basic needs. As more people lose SNAP in the coming months due to the megabill's deep cuts, these affordability challenges will only get worse.

As I said to @NYTimes, HUD’s latest move to temporarily withdraw its #homelessness funding notice is just more chaos. Meanwhile, people’s housing hangs in the balance.

🧵It’s official-@HUDgov is slashing overall permanent housing funds by roughly 2/3 in its main #homelessness solutions program–the Continuum of Care(CoC). If Congress doesn’t undo this harmful change, over 170K formerly unhoused people will lose housing assistance next year.

Nobody should have to choose between paying rent or buying food in the wealthiest nation in the world, but that's a reality for many families. Delays and reductions #SNAP will make that worse. The Administration should go further and fully fund November #SNAP assistance.

It is a relief that the Administration is finally agreeing to do the bare minimum and follow the law by using the #SNAP contingency reserve to partially fund November SNAP benefits & nutrition assistance in Puerto Rico & American Samoa.

If the Administration follows through with its current plan to let SNAP run out of funding, many affected families will have to choose between paying rent or putting food on the table, putting them at greater risk of #eviction and #homelessness. cbpp.org/press/statem... x.com/ParrottCBPP/...

We all want to live in communities where all our neighbors have a safe place to call home and are treated with dignity. But yesterday, Pres. Trump issued an executive order that will worsen #homelessness and punish people simply for being poor and unhoused. This is wrong.

Everyone one needs and deserves a safe place to sleep. But one year ago tomorrow, #SCOTUS decided in #JohnsonvGrantsPass that cities/states can fine or arrest unhoused people for sleeping outside even if they have nowhere safe to go.
