I'm creating a spooky season playlist, mostly consisting of folk/blues rock, symphonic metal, and artists like Kate Bush and Florence + The Machine. Suggestions for more artsts/songs welcome! (But PLEASE do not say Thriller or Monster Mash!)
I just salted caramel Oreo ice cream and it might be one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life.
For #NationalBookLoversDay, 10 books to get to know me: Pride and Prejudice A Tree Grows in Brooklyn Wuthering Heights Rebecca The Alienist Magic Lessons My Darling Dreadful Thing Death on the Nile Lady Oracle We Have Always Lived in the Castle Your turn!
Today is going to be tough. Hugs and dogs and kind words appreciated.
About to watch the 2nd ever Women’s Professional Baseball League game. Feeling pretty emotional about it - I’ve loved baseball most of my life, and have always hoped one day I’d get to see women play it at this level.
I've been in my new apartment for about six weeks and my mind is still blown at how much having in-unit laundry can change your life.
Shopping for summer dresses as a short, overweight woman is a very discouraging experience.
KNICKS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KNICKS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEW YORK OR NOWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That Knicks game was the craziest game I've ever watched in any sport. What a comeback. Apologies to my new neighbors for the screaming. 🤣
I moved to a new apartment this week, first time in about 5 years. I'm finding it very surreal to see all my stuff in a totally different context. Does anyone else experience this?
I live in the NYC metro area. Shake Shack’s burgers and fries are just okay. Nothing I would wait in a long line or go out of my way for.
Here I invite you to be a micro-heretic. To bring small shame on your people. Tell me about a highly praised thing in your hometown/area that all locals LOVE except YOU. I’m from the Seattle area. Taco Time is nothing special. Bland. Not horrible but not worth going out of your way. Now you go!
Knicks to the NBA finals! Last time we could say that, social media didn't even exist!
It’s cold and it’s rainy and it’s totally worth it because I just got to watch Aaron Judge hit a walk off home run in a previously scoreless game. Baseball: it’s the best.
This New Yorker cartoon is accurate but a gut punch.
Bruce Springsteen. The E Street Band. Tom Morello. So much talent and passion on one stage. What a great night at MSG.
Florence + The Machine's Brooklyn show last night was pure magic. I loved hearing both classics and the new songs from Everybody Scream, an album that means so much to me. Florence Welch has been such a huge and positive influence on my life. I'll always show up when she comes to New York.
Seeing Florence and the Machine tonight for the 3rd time. I think this time will mean even more than other times did, and they already meant a whole lot.
If my workload/schedule allows it, I take my birthday off or take a long weekend soon thereafter. Because of when my birthday falls, it's a good opportunity to get some relaxation during a big gap between holidays.
Trying to figure out how to eliminate jeans from my wardrobe. I really don't like wearing them.
Major media outlets are helping JD Vance play both sides — posing as the principled adviser opposed to the war but also as the loyal helpmate supporting his president's war. Get a grip. Vance is helping a criminal president conduct an illegal war. It’s a scandal that working the press works so well.
JD Vance PR team really getting their moneys worth from American papers. Blatant propaganda.
There’s so much about this that is wrong and disturbing and scary that I have no idea where to begin.
Trump on deadline:
An unfortunate end to an amazing season for UConn women’s basketball. Geno Auriemma’s conduct at the end of the game was inexcusable.
