Fromers & visitors... Amid the monthly Frome Independent market, I'll be at Hunting Raven books in Cheap St this Sunday signing books & all that from 11.30 onwards, & maybe doing a couple of Clash songs with James on the main band stage beforehand
Absolutely LOVED the #SaferSleepWeek conference in Leicester today, got to meet Jess, Tilly and Michon from the neonatal unit who helped us design and test part of the Baby Sleep Project. And the mentimeters worked!
It's #SaferSleepWeek ! I'm going to Leicester tomorrow to speak at and attend their safer sleep conference, looking forward to catching up with fantastic colleagues 😀 and 8 hours on 4 trains so guess how many papers I will get written 🤔
Happy International Women's Day! Despite the efforts, while much more women enter scientific fields, due to numerous factors, few manage to remain in the field or secure senior positions. Support your coworkers, call out harmful systemic behaviour. 😘
I've never used mentimeter during a talk, so of course the best time to use tech you've zero experience of is during a 3 minute pitch to a room full of child health clinicians and peers. On a laptop that wasn't connected to the Internet. We live and learn but here are the results! So beautiful 😍
Realist reviewers, here's a banger of a new paper by a South African group whose work I've only just become aware of. Good bit of philosophy to chew on if you've time. But also seeking to make RR more practical. Enjoy! #healthpolicy academic.oup.com/heapol/artic...

Really informative read. When I’ve talked about babies & children living in temporary housing many colleagues are not well informed about it, or how it causes vulnerability. www.insidehousing.co.uk/insight/the-...

We've been warning about unsafe temporary housing for years. We should not have had to wait for 74 children to die before those in power start to listen. "Temporary" should mean safe, not "anything will do" @ncmd.bsky.social www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Temporary housing linked to deaths of at least 74 children
Official data show that 58 of those children were babies under the age of one.

This paper is an oldie but a goodie ✨️
I'm completely obsessed with this article as a parent who commonly bed shares. I've always received quite balanced advice on bed sharing from health professionals (probs bc I'm so middle class), but it is a real touchpaper online, particularly the US I think. journals.plos.org/plosone/arti...

Wishing you all a happy festive midwinter! Here is the sky showing off this morning just North of the Border 😍
How we have conversations matters. Great to be training midwives today in London with Jitsuvax, conversations for vaccine hesitancy.
I took a train North, and plotted the life expectancy at each station. 238 miles between London and Blackpool and the life expectancy drops by 6 years for males and 5 years for females born in 2020-2022. Let’s just reflect on that!
