Want to make a project using all your yarn scraps? 💡 You can join them into one ball using the Russian join: cross the yarn ends and sew each yarn end back through its own strand 😉 Taper the yarn ends first by fraying or cutting the plies at different lengths. #knitting

Stashbusting (or rather stash management!) continued 🧶 I divide my stash into two groups: cotton/cotton blends/linen and wool/acrylic. Non-stretchy plant fibers behave very differently from wool and acrylic (stretchiness, shrinkage, care), so you need to be careful when combining them. #knitting
Tinking knit and purl stitches #knitting I will never not find it funny that to un-knit is called to tink (k-n-i-t vs. t-i-n-k) Knit and purl stitches are tinked the same way.
What’s the first step to sustainable knitting? 🌱 Hint: it’s not buying new yarn, not even the organic, responsibly sourced kind. Swipe to find out 🧶 I’m working on shrinking my own stash, and I’d love to hear how you handle yours. Share your thoughts below👇 #knitting

Lifted increases are an excellent alternative to “make one” increases if you want neat symmetrical shaping in stocking stitch 😉🙌🌺 Practice these increases with square 43: The Lifted One from the book Learn to Knit in 50 Squares 📘🧶 🔗 annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2025/10/21/l... #knitting
Why steek? 🧶 (and what does that have to do with stash-busting?) The usual reason given is that you can avoid purling. But there’s a big advantage that’s mentioned less often: no ends to weave in! 🙌 #knitting

When I was writing this book, I told myself that even if just one person found it useful, it would be worth the effort 💛 It's now been out in the world for a year, and it's also been translated into French and German! I've loved seeing all your blankets and hearing your feedback. Thank you, truly. ❤️
Catching floats on the purl side is something I would generally avoid, but if you have to do it, here’s how! If you absolutely want to, you can practice with Square 23. The Difficult One from my book Learn to Knit in 50 Squares 📘🧶✨🟦 🔗 annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2025/10/21/l... #knitting
Stash tip: Yarns all tangled up?🧶 You know how all the yarn ends get tangled up, and you spend more time untangling than knitting??? 🙄🫤 👉 Here’s a tip to keep your stash neat and tidy: fasten the loose ends with hair snap clips. No more tangles ✨ 😎 ✨ #knitting
Just finished this summer shawl, in time for autumn 🍂 😅 but I’m hoping I’ll get to wear it for a couple of weeks of wear out of it! #knitting
🧶 There’s a reason why the Italian bind off is so popular, even though it takes so much more time to work than the regular bind off It’s stretchy and it looks so neat as if the stitches just flow into each other. 🙌🧶✨ #knitting annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2022/10/03/e...
Have you noticed that garter stitch is stretchier than stocking stitch? And that the normal bind off turns out tight, especially if you’re binding off a shawl? Try the Icelandic bind off! ✨ 🧶✨ #knitting annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2022/10/03/e...
🧶 How do you get a seamless cast off edge when #knitting in the round? Here's how to connect the last stitch to the first, so there's no visible gap or jog at the join ✨ 🧶✨ annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2022/10/03/e...
Is your shawl cast off too tight? 🧶 Try the K2tog tbl stretchy cast off! I'm #knitting shawls at the moment (still stash-busting 😅), and a too-tight edge is a common problem. This is one of my go-to cast offs: stretchy, neat, and easy to do ✨ 🙌🧶✨ annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2022/10/03/e...

I-cord cast on Cast on 3 sts. Slip the stitches to the left needle. Next row: Yarn over, knit 3. Slip 3 stitches back to left needle. Repeat until you have the desired number of stitches (excluding the 3 stitches of the i-cord) 🧶 🧶 🧶 #knitting annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2022/04/27/c... 🧶🎥
🫧🫧🫧 Bubble stitch 🫧🫧🫧 This is a fun stitch created by knitting 5 rows of stocking stitch and then, on the next right side row, #knitting 5 below, i.e. counting 5 rows down from the live stitch on your left hand needle and knitting into that stitch, while unravelling the stitches in between 🧶 🧶 🧶
#Knitting tip 💡 🤔 You know how the very last stitch of your cast off looks loose and stretched? 👉 Here’s a simple remedy: 🧶 Lift the stitch below the last stitch onto your left-hand needle and knit the 2 stitches together 🙌 😉

I was asked recently how I handle stranded knitting with 3 colours on the purl side. That’s one thing I’ve NEVER done! 😱 😱 😱 But this is how I handle 3 colours on the knit side 🧶 🧶 🧶 Have you ever worked with more than 2 colours at the same time? How did you do it? #knitting
🧶 Linen stitch is a very particular stitch in knitting. It’s very dense (and takes longer to knit), it’s stable, non-stretchy, lies flat and looks neat on both sides. That’s why I like to use it for button bands 🙌✨ #knitting annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2022/02/25/t...
