I love cooking and making salads. Fruit and vegetables are beautiful and delicious. I first admired the fruit and berries you can see in my watercolour painting ‘Fruit and Blackberry Branches’, then painted them, and finally used them to make a dessert. They were beautiful and full of flavour.

This spring, the garden in Aachen was in full bloom with beautiful rhododendrons. During the day, I admired them and took photographs, and in the evening I would sit nearby and watch the bats flitting over the garden.

I painted the watercolours ‘Peonies amongst Cucumbers’ in a garden in Aachen. It was late spring, or perhaps already early summer; it was damp, with frequent showers, and my walks were accompanied by June downpours. The peonies in the garden were absolutely stunning.

‘The Last Peony’ was the first in a small series of paintings entitled ‘Peonies’. The main subject of the painting was very beautiful and large, but unfortunately it lost some of its petals whilst I was painting it, as it was very hot outside. I painted in gouache on an oak board in a size A5.
