MEEHubs doesn't stop when the talks stop: from a mouth-watering spread in Morelia to a bonfire in Irvine to an Apero in Zurich, we've got your social calendar covered during the conference #MEEHubs2026 #MEEHubs26
MEEHubs or MEEPubs? Our cross-hub pub quiz pitted hubs against each other in a thrilling battle. Congrats to "alan", "Tom" and "swayam" for winning free registration to a local hub at the next MEEHubs! #MEEHubs26 #MEEHubs2026
You know it’s @meehubs.bsky.social if one hub has beer while another has breakfast. The Zürich hub is concluding a fantastic first day of #MEEHubs26 - can’t wait to rewatch what we’ll be missing out on tonight and excited for two more days of science and fun across hubs 🙌🏼🚀
3 days of Microbial Ecology and Evolution, starting tomorrow! 🤩 #MEEHubs2026 meehubsmorelia2026.org Of you' re attending from another hub, check our online poster on multiomics to elucidate the effects of #Phythophthora on the 🥑 #microbiome and #metabolome (no. 171). #microsky

So happy to see this out 🎉 it all started with a discussion group of ECR brought together by the NCCR Microbiomes and cumulated in this primer on microbial community ecology. This was such a fun group project, where I learned a lot about how cool both microbial and human communities are 🤩
Delighted to see this out in its final form! doi.org/10.1093/isme... We established a discussion group focussed on the history of community ecology and how it informs our understanding of microbiota. This review distils those discussions to provide a guide for microbiologists entering the field
Just a few days left‼️ Abstract submission deadline for MEEHubs2026 is April 19! Come present at one of the hubs August 3-5, 2026✨ Links and more info here: meehubs.org

PopDyn is on Winter break. We are working on the list of speakers for the 2025 sites.google.com/view/popdyn/ I take the occasion to share the Alma Dal Co School on Collective Behaviour (Venice 29/09-4/10 2025) with an amazing line up of speakers in memory of Alma Dal Co. almadalcoschool.github.io
Scientists, academics, researchers: We’re excited to share that @altmetric.com is now tracking mentions of your research on Bluesky! 🧪
There are already many articles for which there is more attention on Bluesky than on other comparable micro-blogging sites, meaning the academic community and the general public have clearly adopted Bluesky as one of its core places to disseminate and discuss new research. A Place of Joy.
So proud to be part of such an amazing group of people and to be able to receive support and mentorship from two literally award-winning, outstanding leaders 🤩
We are so thrilled that Martin and Olga have won the Art of Leadership (ALEA) award - for being incredible group leaders who give us independence, support, trust, and ultimately prioritise our wellbeing above all else. We are so grateful to be co-led by them!
My friend & colleague @micsysecolab.bsky.social Matthias has written this extremely insightful and fascinating perspective on bacterial collective metabolism, out now in @naturemicrobiol.bsky.social. So happy to see this out & super excited for proteome allocation! www.nature.com/articles/s41...
A framework for understanding collective microbiome metabolism - Nature Microbiology
This Perspective explores why microbiome members perform partial metabolism of substrates and suggests that proteome efficiency is a driver of collective microbiome metabolism.

New work out in @eLife! Possibly the last one in our series on bacterial aggregation behaviours on polysaccharides. We knew cells were engaging in collective behaviours. But how do they know when to leave and why? We provide potential answers in this work elifesciences.org/articles/93855
Grateful for the opportunity to share my enthusiasm and thoughts on microbial ecology and bacterial communities in Cell Systems! What an exciting time to contribute to this fascinating field and to adress the „macro in the micro“. www.cell.com/cell-systems...
How can concepts from ecology enable insights about cellular communities?
Historically, microbiology has been markedly concerned with pathogens and their modes of action. Upon Koch’s revolutionary finding that microorganisms can be causal of disease, understandably, there w...
