I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.
There is such a tender feeling to this painting. It really moved me.

If I wake too early I sometimes listen to the local public radio. This morning the regular overnight announcer, doing his last shift before retiring, played this song. It so strongly evoked the 1980s, and moved me so deeply, I had to look up the music video. It’s super weird.

Once saw him play at the Sydney Entertainment Centre (also known as Empty Container Centre, on account of being large and soulless). Sad to say, I didn’t know enough about his music to understand the excitement rippling through the audience. Lots of long guitar solos. I was a bit bored.

He went to a friend’s house in the 1980s, visiting one of the tenants in a Canberra share house. They installed a door on the dunny in deference to his celebrity, a luxury they had been doing without. I think he was a good bloke, and a bloody great actor. This one hit me.

Found a counted cross-stitch kit at the Op-shop. Started it 6 weeks ago, while I was travelling to Tasmania. Coincidentally I went past this house on a bus from Launceston to Devonport. It’s a bit twee… perhaps I’ll add flames behind the house.

I used to have a huntsman spider living in the kitchen. It was missing a couple of legs so I called it Limpy. It was there for months. They do scuttle in a slightly disturbing way, but live and let live is my motto.
