The problem with that shell game, of course, is that the stink of X and xAI is too powerful to hide, especially given the extra scrutiny that public companies are subject to. So this merger has made SpaceX stinky too. After Musk inevitably rolls Tesla into SpaceX as well, it will get even stinkier.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday left the door open to the EV maker merging with his other trillion-dollar-plus-valued firm SpaceX, declining to ‌dismiss the possibility and citing growing overlap bet...

It’s literally the worst possible idea. Years ago I had an argument with a noted British analyst from Andreessen Horowitz who claimed that *no one* who wanted the BBC to face cuts wanted the news arm to suffer. And yet here we are.

Emily Bell@emilybell.bsky.social · last mo.

It is crazy to me that the BBC is cutting news services when you look at these charts. You have a growing demographic bulge in the 55+ group who are BBC dependent - BUT you also have an 18 to 24 group where almost a quarter ALSO get their news…

Within the article is a quote from a Microsoft spokesperson saying the initiative is valuable for Microsoft ‘to learn from teachers’. This is familiar language to publishers who enter these deals. But name 1 initiative where a company has developed products that benefit professionals at its own cost

This is 💯 not true. It is never a choice between ‘taking big tech’s money and doing nothing’. A stronger moral imperative is NOT to take the money and the strings attached to it - particularly if you do not and cannot yet understand the implications

“Teaching educators about AI is a ‘moral imperative’, said Randi Weingarten, the AFT president.” “And without outside funding, it was a choice between taking big tech’s money or doing nothing, she said.”

“This renewed incarnation of ACT UP [Chicago] focuses on three advocacy and protest tentpoles: attacks on HIV/AIDS funding, the domestic trans genocide and the ongoing and unmitigated COVID pandemic.” We do so love to see it 🫡

I don't know how to convince you to take care of your comrades. But Long COVID impacts every fight for justice, every social movement. Honor the energy and integrity of the folks in my latest @thesicktimes.org feature. Be careful with each other so we can be dangerous together.

Every social justice movement is impacted by the Long COVID crisis - The Sick Times

Long COVID disrupts struggles for justice, as activists and organizers with the disease are forced to suspend or change their tactics, facing a community that largely ignores COVID precautions.

"A concentration camp, in its most basic definition, is a place where a targeted civilian population, not necessarily accused of a crime, is detained and at least some of their basic rights are suspended," writes @jwashing.bsky.social. "That’s precisely what’s happening in the United States today."

Don’t call them ICE detention centers. Call them camps | John Washington

I’ve spent a decade reporting on immigration enforcement. The word ‘camp’ best captures the political function of these facilities
