Nothing quite says I have my life together than trying to cancel utilities, spending hours not understanding why it won't let me cancel on XX/XX/2025, then having to Google 'What year is it?'

Happy New Year! It's been seemingly quiet for me but with lots going on behind the scenes. For one, BETWEEN GHOSTS AND GODS was announced this year, coming out September 2026! Here's hoping 2026 is kind to us all. What are your wishes for 2026?

A mixture of photographs. From left to right: Between Ghosts and Gods cover, a board announcing an author event at Nonsuch school, Ann Sei Lin and April Doyle holding copies of Rebel Skies at Canterbury Waterstones, cats on different steps on a stairway in Crete, cakes on an egg blue plate

I need my characters to get in contact with a secretive terrorist organisation. The level of tech is post industrial revolution, pre-internet. Anyone please toss me ideas. I'm resisting googling 'how to contact terrorists' right now

How it started Vs How it's going. My tbr list after about 6 months. I know it looks like no progress has been made, but I have read quite a bit, I swear! Is anyone else fighting back their tbr list? Any recommendations for where I should start?

A big stack of booksA slightly smaller stack of books, though not visibly so.

Thanks to Nonsuch school for letting me talk to their Yr8 students about Rebel Skies and being an author! Also congrats to Clive the Capybara who is now the Yr8's shikigami and will be delivering pepsi to all.

A decorated board with posters advertising and author visits and the name of the school at the top. The display table is empty because all the books have been taken.

THE WOLF AND HIS KING comes out in the UK in 3 months today, so I'm giving away one paperback ARC! To enter: follow me and reskeet this. Bonus: add TWAHK on GR/Storygraph & drop a screenshot in the comments. Extra bonus: tell me your favourite medieval story. UK only (sorry). Closes midday 29/08.

An ARC of THE WOLF AND HIS KING by Finn Longman.

I haven't been here much. Going through a bit of a crisis. Wrote two separate sapphic stories. One SF and one Fantasy, and both were shot down by my publisher so I've been scrambling to try and find something else to present to them. The joys of being an author.

Had a dream where people use cat guides in order to travel to different worlds except some cats are really stupid and will take you to instead random world instead because they smell catnip or something and I need this in a book.

I attended the Chatham House talk on Battling Disinformation and Making digital spaces safe for the LGBTQ community. An interesting event which leaves me with much to think about regarding the global nature of disinformation and the internet's role.
