Nice letter to the editor from a high school senior, stating the obvious: if you admit the top students from around the world (in a process that has gotten substantially more competitive over the decades because of the addition of women/int'l students), high grades follow. 1/
In my, admittedly limited, experience, having students who think you're accessible, personally engaged in their learning, and fair, is a much more reliable avenue to strong evaluations than whether they scored a good grade.
