Do any of you lot do cryptic crosswords? I wrote one last night and I'd be delighted if folk wanted to have a stab at it and give me some feedback? I just did it on paper, so I'll have to type it up but will send out to anyone who fancies a stab. Feel free to RT or pass on to the CC fan you love

But there's no possessive link in "X and Y flip" leading to a reversal of XY. "X, Y and Z begin" describes what the *words* do in the answer (exactly like "flip" IMO) - it's not intended as a name for the initial letters themselves (like "X Y ans Z's heads" would be)

What do people think of "Emperor grins and gladiators begin" for EGG? If "[fodder] flips" can indicate reversal, "[f1, f2 and f3] begin" seems a perfectly grammatical way to say each bit of fodder has its first letter written but no more
