It's just IBS. It wasnt, it was Crohn's disease and it nearly killed me a couple of years later with me still thinking it was IBS. I wouldnt normally hold it against them, but it was a consultant gastroenterologist in a private clinic.

Had a call with a new colleague today. Lovely pleasantries and my eyes keep catching my nails on the meet window. Apropos of nothing, we are ending the call and they complement my trans rights t shirt. I feel seen and appreciated. Today, the nails feel right.

Saw a comment on a post about a roadside fire blaming EVs as they have "sparks from the batteries". If you cant beat em, join em. I hear ICE cars have spark PLUGS! A whole thing designed to create sparks! How is that safe?! (The fire wasnt caused by the presence of a car, sparking or not)

And for very little reason I find myself down the rabbit hole to see if owning a rocker cover from a Rolls Royce Merlin engine is a reasonable life goal, even a wrecked one. Turns out; maybe. More research needed.

Also baffled. I wont pretend I had 100% grasp of all my references all the time, but I had at least read and digested them all at some point. This is what happens when publish or perish is valued more than good research.

I am genuinely surprised by this. Of course you don’t just check all references, you actually read them. And yes that includes ones written in languages other than your own.

Just had a colleague ask me about my trans-positive t shirt and had a lovely chat. They dont think they have met a transgender person and wanted to more about some of the terms/pronouns.

Today is the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. It shaped my life in many weird ways both personally and professionally. One day I hope we'll learn the lesson of the dangers of operating in a system where blind obedience is expected.
