In 1939, Tsuneko Sasamoto learned (from a mentor) about the Life magazine featuring the revolutionary work of American photographer Margaret Bourke-White. Stunned that a woman could produce such impactful news photography, Sasamoto immediately shifted her ambitions to photojournalism. #Photography

Tsuneko Sasamoto: Japan's first female photojournalist. Over >7 decades, she documented Japan’s transition from a pre-war totalitarian state to a post-war economic superpower. She remained an active, working photographer past her 100th birthday & died at age 107. #WorldPhotographyDay #FemalePhotogs

Two photos, side-by-side, of Tsuneko Sasamoto (1914–2022), Japan’s first female photojournalist. The left half shows a vintage, sepia-toned archival photograph from her youth, capturing her in a side-profile pose as she peers through the viewfinder of a large, vintage press camera. Her dark hair is styled in short, neat waves, and she holds the heavy camera steady with focused intensity. The right half features a vibrant, modern photograph of Sasamoto as a joyful centenarian. She stands smiling dynamically inside a gallery exhibition of her own work, wearing thick, stylish, red-rimmed glasses, a white turtleneck under a draped black-and-red striped poncho, and a ring on her finger. Her expressive hands are raised mid-gesture as if telling a lively story. In the background, black-and-white prints of her historical photographs hang on the wall, including an image of post-war Japanese children and a mother outside a rural home. The overall mood bridges the past and present, celebrating her enduring artistic passion and profound historical legacy over a century-long life.

I’m pissed. I turn 66 this month, and I don’t want to watch my country fold because a failed real-estate and reality-TV personality told a bunch of lies—and convinced a third of the country to follow him.

My dad was an avid according player from his young years, up to about the time he died. He was in a band that traveled throughout Yugoslavia after WWII primarily in what's now Serbia. The picture is of the band, you can the dates. Number 1 is my uncle in front, my dad is number 2 in the back.

I brought in my old Mr Coffee from the the garage, cleaned it well and made cappuccino. The machine works like new! With topped cinnamon, it’s delicious, and it reminds me of my years in Sardinia!❤️😋👍

Trump will be arrested and sent to Super Max Prison regardless of his attempts to escape, should he flee if the US falters owing to the budget crisis. The Mossad successfully infiltrated Argentina to capture Eichmann and then transported him to Israel for execution! It is achievable! 🟥✊⬛️
