Then, we will discuss recently developed therapy approaches that address social connectedness. We will focus on our intervention, Aphasia: Nurturing Connection, Honouring Ongoing Relationships (ANCHOR), describing how we created this program, and how we are assessing its efficacy.

📢 New Publication Alert: Shaping Better Support for Carers of People with Aphasia

Who doesn't love a checklist?! ✅ Care partners and family members of people with aphasia face unique challenges after stroke. They are often learning how to support someone with a communication disability while also managing changes to their own roles, relationships, wellbeing, and daily routines. In our newly published research paper, we explored whether the existing Screening Tool for Carers of Young People with Stroke adequately captured the needs of carers supporting someone with aphasia.

CALL FOR MENTORS The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia is once again offering to support the International Association of Communication Sciences and Disorders (IALP) to develop strategies for engaging with and providing professional development to SLTs in resource-constrained contexts. This project is coordinated by the IALP Aphasia Committee. Mentees will be emerging SLTs (in their first 7 years of clinical practice) from low- and middle-resourced countries where speech-language therapy services for people with aphasia are limited or not yet established.

Dear colleagues, The Aphasia Therapy Finder aphasiatherapyfinder.com is a free online clinical implementation tool providing access to evidence summaries, therapy descriptions, and resources for evidence-based aphasia therapies. Since its launch in July 2024, over 8,000 clinicians, educators, and students from 77 countries have registered to use it. We are now conducting a cross-sectional survey and focus groups to better understand who is using the tool, how it is being used, and how it can be improved to better meet user needs.
