HWA is not my circus so its pro-AI monkeys are not my problem...but damn, it's something when a writers' organization makes it clear it neither respects nor values writers.

Seeing the Dark Horse Workers United, my first thought ("Go unions") is very rapidly followed by a less meaningful but far more irksome thought ("Why are the horses not in proper CMYK order?") that will probably continue to bug me for years.
we have found two ways to achieve immortality in the mind of the public over millennia and one is "write something real good" and the other is "keep all your shitty copper complaints" /jk
Fun (if not-yet-actionable) news: "5:37" will be reprinted in a film-and-horror anthology from Dark Ink next year.
Spouse the other day, reading the book that involves a publicly-missing senator: So how much of this is about Mitch McConnell? Me, who drafted the thing almost ten years ago, then wandered off for a few years: None.

The website appears to be down now. Good. Riddance.
There's a website called Science Fiction Weekly (dot com) that appears to have reprinted a bunch (maybe all?) of Daily Science Fiction's stories. They claim they did so with author permission. They are lying. If you were published in DSF, maybe join a bunch of us in sending takedown notices?
My Daily Science Fiction story "Kill Switch," currently pirated by the Science Fiction Weekly yahoos, is available for your listening pleasure! CB Droege narrates it--with permission! And an actual contract and payment and everything--on Manawaker Studio's Flash Fiction Podcast.

Today I and a bunch of other authors learned that Science Fiction Weekly has reprinted stories from Daily Science Fiction. My story "Kill Switch" is among those reprinted without permission. I have already emailed nastygrams and DMCA takedown notices, and I know I am not alone. Science Fiction Weekly describes itself thusly: Daily Science Fiction is deeply missed, but that's where the truth of this statement ends.

Concerns over fake phenomena cannot be held in good faith. There's no such thing as "good faith" concern over razorblades in Halloween apples or vaccines causing autism. If you still have 'concerns' about these issues you are uninformed, a bigot or being manipulated. No other option.

I want to see The Odyssey and then read Emily Wilson's review of The Odyssey. My impression is that they are both excellent examples of their respective genres.

Novels The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones (2025): This historical (with a modern frame) tackles genocide head-on. The bloody revenge portions don't quite rise to the level of power fantasy, and the you-are-what-you-eat body horror is overall excellent (if somewhat overplayed by the end). The lack of examination of modern Blackfeet relations with Good Stab reads less as an enticing lacuna than a deliberate illustration that some stories are not for outsiders.

They're cold, alone, and terrified. This year, won't you give a small press debut a warm space on your shelf? Or if you can, adopt 2 or more, as small press debut books are social creatures and do better in a multi-book home. #booksky 📚💙 #indiebooks

So far, Argentina has been playing like a very good team that has not yet been the beneficiary of big questionable calls.
Raising kids isn't about efficiency and the ruthless stamping out of imperfection, noise, and inconvenience. It's about getting a young person to hopefully become a decent older person! They have to live in society to do that!
