Rhythmbox 3.5 is now available!

Rhythmbox, which is a music player, a tag editor, and a music organizer built for Linux and Unix-like systems, has recently been updated to version 3.5, after nearly a decade in the release of version 3.4, which was out on August 14th, 2026. Rhythmbox 3.5 now enables the newer playback backend as the default. This backend was introduced on Rhythmbox 3.4.9 as a replacement for the old cross-fading feature.

Installing Google Chrome to Ubuntu proot environment with Termux

Google recently started rolling out the ARM64 version of Google Chrome for Linux machines. This gives a chance for users to install this browser straight from the official Google Chrome homepage, which coincides with the same installation method for regular 64-bit computers. You can download the browser from here. We have tested Google Chrome ARM64 on a Ubuntu proot distro with Termux on Android 16, and the browser worked with full Google account synchronization enabled.

Apple Rhapsody DR2 on 86Box with Socket 370 [1998]

In 1996, Apple Computer acquired NeXTSTEP and OpenSTEP. After the purchase of NeXT, Apple Computer started working on Rhapsody, an operating system. It was an exploratory strategy for Apple to use NeXTSTEP and OpenStep as a foundation to build Mac OS X, which was later rebranded to macOS, for Macintosh computers. Now, the Darwin kernel powers the core part of macOS (Mac computers and laptops), iOS (iPhone), iPadOS (iPad), watchOS (Apple Watch), and tvOS (Apple TV).

Samsung reportedly starts working on the Galaxy S27 series

Microsoft shares progress about Windows 11 quality improvements

When March 2026 came, Microsoft made a preliminary announcement about how Windows 11 would undergo quality improvements to address some of the complaints that users were raising since Windows 11 was released in 2021, where Microsoft claimed that it would be the most secure version of Windows. Despite the successful release of Windows 11, people were complaining about how the quality of Windows was deteriorating, such as slow Windows Explorer and disruptive Windows updates.

Announcing MediaBoom, a music and video player library

We are very excited to announce a new project, MediaBoom! This project is a descendant of BassBoom, which allows you to play music and video files and streams. Using libmpv as the backend library, MediaBoom ensures that you can play music files that are encoded in formats other than MP3, which BassBoom can process. This includes formats like M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG Vorbis, and WAV files, which means that MediaBoom can play a wider range of music files than BassBoom.
