I growl about Irish Rail, but they don't claim that their vehicles are due when they don't exist. I've just seen a Dublin Bus go from "3 minutes" (which it held for 10) to "Due" to... nothing. The next one evaporated off the tracker before it showed up 8 minutes late, 2 stops into the route. Clowns.

Apparently the MetroLink project could run to €19 billion. Ok. GET ON WITH IT. It's not going to get any cheaper, and it's completely necessary, not least because it's embarrassing telling international visitors they can't get a train from the airport. www.irishtimes.com/transport/20...

JKR and her new org apparently helped get the new Amnesty International report on how TERF organizations destroy lives taken down from their site. Well, guess what? The Streisand Effect is real. Here's the entire report in a thread. Read it. Share it.

Amnesty International put out a major report documenting the influence of UK based anti trans gender critical organizations and their funding. Within hours, GC groups threatened defamation lawsuits and Amnesty was forced to pull it down. Proving the point they're anti rights. Anyways, here it is.

This is the correct way forward. The current situation is benefitting a small number of landlords, and nobody else. Of course, our glorious leaders are either landlords or have them in the close family, so it's going to take some pressure for this to happen. www.thejournal.ie/readme/kelly...

The housing crisis: Like wildfire, we need to abandon the delusion it’ll burn itself out

The only real way out of the housing crisis is through the introduction of a state construction company, argues Kelly Earley.

You start off with perfectly sensible sentences like "I fed the cat". And then maybe, "the cat has been fed". And before you know it, you're on "sustenance has been cast into the gaping maw".

Every year, seeing this blows my mind. Far side of the fence, grazed by sheep: a deadzone. Our side of the fence: full of wild native trees, flowers, insects, birds. WHY are we not giving hill farmers other livelihood options that *benefit*, instead of destroy, nature, like paying them to rewild?

Pick up the nearest book, turn to p. 42, and post the second sentence: A group of about fifty riders moved on the open ground between the Burgundian camp that besieged Neuss and her own Imperial camp that (theoretically) was here to relieve the town. (ASH: A Secret History, Mary Gentle)
