Bonn boasts a wealth of museums. For my final day I did about four of them, including Bundes Kunstmuseum, Beethoven House and the Landesmuseum. The last one hosts another favourite Late Roman artefact. A 4th century dice tower! The inscription reads: "Picts defeated Enemy Destroyed Play at ease!"

Awful news about the Aberlemno 3 Pictish stone. HES surely will reconsider how these stones are preserved. Putting the box on them always felt like an anachronism. But so much of their charm will be lost if this and their setting is changed. www.scotsman.com/heritage-and...
