Redundancies at a post-92 are just as catastrophic--if not more--as redundancies at the institutions that are members of a group specifically set up to structurally advantage themselves at the expense of post-92s. Solidarity with everyone at risk. We are all very much needed.

Today I’m highlighting this very recent publication for my #WHM thread. Packed to the gills with entries on architect women & part of a long tradition of not diminishing their work.

It seems a long time - was it 10 years? - since I went to the Paul Mellon Centre one evening to hear Elizabeth Darling talk about her research into the architecture of Broadcasting House, but the fruits of her labours have now ripened It looks great; I will put it to the top of my "to be read" pile

Making space for news/talks was a key part of the commission for Broadcasting House; Wells Coates’s News Studios a sublime expression of their importance. So it was a real pleasure to be on R4’s World Tonight talking about my book Palace of the Ether www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/... (@ 29 mins)

At the Purcell Rooms to see “For Vini” (and the mushroom columns - homage to the Pioneer Health Centre of course - & the funky doors & other detailing). Quite excited.

As I point out in my new book, built into Broadcasting House was Hilda Matheson’s advocacy for increased news & talks programmes in order that radio fulfil its potential to create an informed citizenry. 4th floor had a news suite & on 3rd & 8th floors there were studios for talks & discussions. /

BBC to axe Radio 4’s The World Tonight after more than 50 years

Palace of the Ether is out (and about). Thanks to the team @lhartbooks.bsky.social for producing such a lovely artefact & to the many archivists, librarians, colleagues and friends who got me to this point.
