switched to a bird's eye (...or alien's eye?) view just cause I thought it would look cooler. Big implications on the game's story but fortunately I haven't written much anyway. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegames #puzzle #ebitengine
I desperately need to ship one of the games I'm working on soon... both games are at the polish/balance stage of development, which I hate, and I lack the discipline to work on them for more than an hour a day so, I'm starting a new project so I don't waste all my time going on youtube lol.
finally got the shader looking good, even if by accident lol. Probably a sign to stop working on it for a while and focus more on game design. #cloudbusters I've also got to figure out how to tell the story... lore dumps as rewards? in game wiki? #puzzle #indiegames #gamedev #ebitengine
Finally released the next update for the beta of my factory automation game: Sideways Chairs. #indiegames #gamedev ibex.itch.io/sideways-cha...
Update 0.4
ATTENTION PLAYER! OLD SAVES ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THIS VERSION! That's right, saves from any version prior to '0.4.0' can no longer be loaded, this is due, primarily, to and overhaul in the tilemap....

added "plans" (like scriptable blueprints) to my factory-automation game #sidewayschairs #indiegames #gamedev #factory #automation #ebitengine
refined cursor >> bio-hazardous waste, refined poo >> heart. Waste + heart >> human. Finally, combine human + poo >> battery. Send the battery to a Charger to distribute power (as a particle) to your factory. #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #indiegames #solodev #ebitengine
working on making the clouds more fluffy in my #minesweeper like: #cloudbusters items are shared between all the grids on the page. Thinking of cool ways I might connect the grids together... #indiegame #indiedev #gamedev #ebitengine #puzzle
I've been mostly testing my game on the normal difficulty, and I haven't played through the whole thing since releasing the alpha so I decided to try speedrunning on easy mode. Might have made it too easy... #indiedev #gamedev #automation #factory #ebitengine #indiegame
made a guy that hijacks your controls (look at gui in bottom left). #cloudbusters #puzzle #minesweeper #gamedev #indiedev #solodev #ebitengine #indiegame
experimenting with ways of revealing tiles in my #minesweeper like. This level reveals tiles that don't have a mine in a diagonal direction. I like the checkerboard pattern. #indiegame #indiedev #gamedev #ebitengine #puzzle #solodev

working on the gui. somehow adding hands makes it feel a lot more like you're looking up into the sky... #cloudbusters #gamedev #indiegame #indiedev #solodev #ebitengine #puzzle #minesweeper #screenshotsaturday
added reveal animation, a bunch more items and way larger levels. #cloudbusters #gamedev #indiedev #minesweeper #ebitengine #indiegame
rewrote my tilemap to render with a shader and its so much faster. more than doubled the fps, plus I can do cool wavy effect, a vignette around the fog of war, and way bigger maps. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegames #ebitengine
enjoying the new powers-ups I've added. Game-board shader keeps getting bigger. trying to think of more unique power-ups/items to add... if anyone knows a good minesweeper-like I can steal ideas from let me know. #indiedev #gamedev #ebitengine #puzzle
working on a bigger version of a minesweeper-like prototype I made last year. The idea is: you are clearing clouds to reveal the night sky. Spent all day working on a cloud/space tilemap shader. getting there... I'm calling it: "Cloudbusters" #gamedev #indiedev #puzzle #ebitengine #shader
short montage of mid-game science production in Sideways Chairs. #indiegames #factory #automation #gamedev
rewrote my game's collision system so I could add curling stones... #gamedev #indiegames

I decided to do a very quiet launch of the alpha version of sideways chairs and I'm glad I did cause after I uploaded the first hotfix a user reported that the game wouldn't start. found the bug and fixed it. Turns out it was some changes I made to the way resources were loaded.
I've known for a while that letterboxd was compromised, but I'm still suprised that they are going so far as to censor reviews at the behest of a movie studio. Basically just an advertising platform for shitty american movies now like imdb, but somehow with even less integrity.
snapshot of a minimal base with science production and automated turrets in my factory automation game
I'm still working on Sideways Chairs (A factory automation game), and I hope to have an alpha version ready relatively soon. not going to continue working on the dungeon crawler though... I realized I don't really like dungeon crawlers and turn based gameplay makes the in-game scripting unwieldy
just updated my five year old manjaro linux install (for the first time in a year) and nothing broke. I was hoping to procrastinate from getting back to work on my game for at least a few hours, maybe even a whole day, alas, it only took 15 minutes... linux has gotten too reliable...
