Inside of you there are two wolves trying to understand America. One wolf has spent its entire life studying constitutional law. It's currently being devoured by the other wolf, who is a carnival barker

Another tepid take: Maul coming back is an ass-pull surpassed only by Palpatine in Rise of Skywalker, but I happily overlook it because Maul's post-ass-pull story is one of the best things in all of animated Star Wars, and Sam Witwer's voice work is just fantastic.

Lukewarm take: Duchess Satine is the worst-written character in The Clone Wars. No ideological consistency whatsoever. "I'm too pure to do violence! But I'll totally call my boyfriend Obi-Wan to do it for me!"

Heard someone shooting off fireworks last night, and for whatever reason, my first thought was, "Whoa, did it finally happen?" It did not. But what a wild way to find out that would have been.

Oh, Squeenix. Never change. "So that completes the flashback about the hero became an omnicidal maniac. And he's back." "Ok, so we're off to stop him now, right?" "Nope. Time to learn card battling."

Am I the only one who hates the term "prediction market?" They're betting sites. That's it. "Prediction market" sounds like a PR term to legitimize them and gloss over the fact that it's just gambling.

Hear me out: we convince Trump to personally enter the ring. He might be arrogant enough to think it's a good idea. Let's go full Commodus, but the one from Gladiator, not the real one.

Book club I'm in picked The Lies of Locke Lamora by @scottlynch78.bsky.social for next month. I've read (and loved) it before, but it's been long enough that a re-read should feel fresh. The humor and the antics are exactly what I need right now. And the amazing setting is a nice cherry on top. 📚💙

I'm generally anti-LLM, but it would be kind of neat if there was one that auto-generated good alt text for GIFs. I use GIFs a lot like one-liners in spoken conversation, and the effort level is pretty similar. But manually writing alt text can be a pain.

It's weird to me that the first EU5 DLC will be Byzantium-focused. I love Byzantine history (obviously; see PFP), but I would've expected them to focus on powers that actually existed and were significant well into the game's timeline. 1700s Byzantium just feels odd.

The mathematical range of intelligence in Washington, DC, sorted left to right from least to greatest. Seriously though, that look on her face speaks for all of us.

The dumbest motherfucker on the planet shows up to a battle of wits unarmed. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez looks at him with all of our exasperation combined.
