Good news: French police arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of the Celtic Princess’ 2,500-year-old Gold Torque from the Musée du Pays Châtillonnais. This quick arrest increases the chance that the Torque has not been melted down yet.

Bad news. Yesterday, a golden Celtic torque was stolen from Musée du Pays Châtillonnais, France. I know this museum well: in 1973, thieves stole a Roman Bacchus statue there, which I managed to recover in 2022. Now it happened again. The hunt is on. #artcrime
Update: The oldest known portrait of legendary King Radbod of Frisia, stolen in 2023 and recovered by me and Dutch police, has been beautifully restored by Jazzy de Groot. It will soon travel to museums in several countries. Last photo: the back of another recently recovered stolen royal portrait.

RECOVERY: After finding a Nazi-looted Goudstikker painting hidden by an SS family, another breakthrough hit. Robert van der Hoek found a second Goudstikker piece, likely by Hendrick van der Burgh, in Amsterdam’s street trash. Together with John van den Heuvel, we are returning it to the heirs.
UPDATE: The painting, looted from Goudstikker by the Nazis and now in the hands of the descendants of a Dutch Waffen-SS general, about which we reported earlier, has been returned! The family handed it over to journalist John van den Heuvel and myself.

BREAKING: A painting by Toon Kelder, looted by the Nazis from the famous Jewish art dealer Goudstikker, is still hanging in the house of the granddaughter of the notorious Nazi general Hendrik Seyffardt, head of the Dutch Waffen-SS. Seyffardt was liquidated by the resistance in 1943.
Update: Last week, the Rumanian helmet, stolen in 2025, along with 2 golden bracelets, were recovered by the Dutch police following a deal with the suspects. Apparantly, one of the suspects did not agree to the deal. That's why the third golden bracelet is still missing.

Of this painting by Picasso, Dora Maar, only a black-and-white photo was known. The work has resurfaced, and now we can finally see it in color. It will be auctioned at Drouot auction house. It reminds me of the stolen Dora Maar which I recovered in 2019.
