A Sam in Motion

He/Him. Motorcycle mechanic who spends too much on film & fancy markers. More of my art available at: samwanous.com

This one was just for me. Wanted a photo of this building, not for its architecture but because it was the former office of Tom Peters (Midwestern Bernie Madoff) who ran a Ponzi scheme there and the image of it on the news has been in my brain for almost 20 years, so I captured it on film

A nondescript office building, formerly the headquarters of a regional Ponzi scheme now houses a software as a service company. I’m not big on determinism but stuff like this challenges that belief

I visited the Hershey Transportation Museum this weekend and attempted to shoot 100 speed film indoors without a tripod. Surprised with how good it turned out. Will post a carousel of other museum photos later 📷 Minolta Maxxum 7000 🎞️ Ilford Delta 100 🧪 HC-110 (Dilution D,7min) #believeinfilm #35mm

A mock Tucker dealership inside the Hershey car museum. Tucker is a long defunct car brand that is widely viewed as being ahead of its time with the technological innovations it was putting on its cars & engines

Enjoying a beautiful day on the water. I shot Ektachrome in my Olympus Point & Shoot Though I’m happy with how I developed it my squeegee shed rubber across the roll again. New blades will fix it. In the meantime I’ll have to learn to live with the “happy little accidents.” #believeinfilm

A boat with an American flag putters across lake Minnetonka. In the background are several docks and covers for boats parked along the shore

I was on vacation so I actually had the time to do some live action sketching. If you’re in the Twin Cities I can’t recommend enough The Museum of Russian Art. It’s compact and full of mostly rolling exhibits which were all fascinating. More drawings & photos of it to follow #handdrawing #wipart

A page from my sketchbook with some close ups of a plant, and lights on the left. Then larger two-point perspective drawings on the right hand side of a porch and of the interior gallery at the Museum of Russian Art

Sidecover Friday: These little doohickies are equal parts interesting & infuriating to work on. The Honda CT70 elicits strong feelings of nostalgia and is experiencing a resurgence in value as people buy them up to recapture youthful memories. #motosky

A Honda CT70 with its sidecover and Alternator/Ignition plate removed exposing and intricate network of chains that drive the engine’s valves and oil pump.
