Even a data center the size of the Vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Center would maybe create about 20-25 jobs total once it’s up & running. A few managers on-site tech staff security guards janitors You would have more impact on the local economy by opening a McDonald’s.
Micah@rincewind.run · 5d agoI mean this is fundamentally one of the big reasons why data centers have no local constituency: they don’t actually create a lot of jobs they’ll employ some folks during construction but the actual day to day operation of a data center really doesn’t need many people, especially given its size
