I think I hate people who only engage with fiction as an escape and a toy and straight refuse to dig any further into what the author means and reflect on its messages and what it can say about the reader's own lives. Ryukishi was right to portray these people as ignorant, mindlessly consuming goats
Gamers want simple stories and deep lore. They want protags to be a vessel for a fantasy. They want likeable characters over ones with room to grow. They want things to "make sense" over being interesting or challenging. They take everything on its face.
