Jeanne Gibson, one of the last remaining "Rosie the Riveters," passed away this week at 100. Astronauts For America honors her memory, the courageous work she performed, and echoes her message:

57 years ago today, Apollo 11 reached the moon. We succeeded because we built a program based on rigorous science, meticulous engineering, and evidence-based decision-making. Today we celebrate what Americans achieve when united behind a shared mission.

In the words of American engineer W. Edwards Deming, as it reads outside of Mission Control in Houston: ‘In God we trust; all others must bring data.’

From space, the things that divide us fade away, while the importance of what unites us shines through. We're bringing that focus back to earth with Astronauts For America. Join our mission of restoring respect for the principles of constitutional democracy.

America can lead the world in scientific discovery, but that requires investment, integrity, & commitment from our leaders. At Astronauts For America, we advocate for science-based policymaking in our government, because America's future depends on the decisions we make today.

57 years ago today, the crew of Apollo 11 set out for the moon. Today, we're still reaching for the moon—and reaching for a nation united by the Constitution and the principles that make us great and go beyond the stars.

In space, ignoring evidence is fatal. In democracy, it's corrosive, and just as dangerous. Our mission is to stand up for leaders who use facts, respect expertise, and prioritize data. The stakes are too high for anything else. Our democracy depends on it.

Upholding the rule of law is of the utmost importance, especially for the nation's top law enforcement officer. The next Attorney General has a constitutional obligation to faithfully commit to the principles enshrined in our Constitution.

As former astronauts, we know this truth: in spaceflight, you can't delegate critical decisions to someone else and hope for success. The same applies to democracy.  A bipartisan group of judges agrees with us that the rule of law in America is in danger.

Two fatal ICE shootings in less than a week demand accountability. The 14th Amendment protects due process and Congress has a constitutional duty to ensure it. We need action from our representatives for independent investigations, transparency, and a safety-first culture, now.

Astronauts For America is troubled by the firing of the bipartisan Election Assistance Commission members. This weakens our safe & secure election process. All eligible voters should be free to cast their ballot, and election officials must be able to do their jobs without political interference.

The members of Astronauts For America mourn the loss of Wally Funk, a trailblazer who showed generations of women and all Americans that barriers exist to be broken, and that dedication to one's mission is never too late.

250 years later, we recall this pivotal moment in our history—and understand that freedom isn’t free, and that the most important words in the Constitution—”We the People”—means we’re stronger united than we are divided.

The first public reading of the Declaration of Independence was read by Colonel John Nixon, on the steps of the State House in Philadelphia. People from all walks of life gathered to hear and celebrate the news of independence and freedom from Britain.
