This month marks the anniversary of George Eastman patenting the Kodak camera in 1888. The Copyright Office here at the Library of Congress has “The Kodak Manual,” copyrighted earlier that year. It proves that animals and kids have always been priority subjects of amateur home photography!

The James Connolly memorial in RiverFront Park, Troy, NY. The revolutionary socialist, IWW organizer, & co-leader of the Irish 1916 Easter Rising briefly lived in Troy after his arrival in the U.S. in 1903. The memorial was dedicated in 1986. It deserves a more prominent location in the park, imo.
The first video reel in my soccer geography/mapping project is now live. I’ve identified over 250 places in Illinois (and some contiguous states) where soccer has been played. Every one of those sites has an interesting story to tell!
