An optimistic goober who divides her time between touching too much grass and being too online. Currently working on a single-player horror game in UE5. I upload DevLogs and Game Dev memes to my YouTube: https://https://www.youtube.com/@atta-kat

Checking up what lists I've been added to on Clearsky when this one scrolled past. So many questions. Who the fuck are the Leeds? How did I get added to this list? Who are you people??? 😭

A list I was added to that reads, "Dirty Leeds. Bio indicates that they're a Leeds fan. Automated, refreshed every 60 minutes."

I have no idea who the hell the Leeds are and do not know how I was added to this list.

Redoing the bottle pickup system in my game and had to copy/paste some code over. System didn't work. Went back and took a careful look through the original system. Now wondering how it ever worked at all. This meme still rings true.

Comic strip of guy looking at computer. 1st frame says "It doesn't work... why?" Second frame says "It works.... why?"

Finally got around to watching this incredibly helpful, example-filled explanation on what makes a good video game trailer, with a big focus on indies. If you're looking to release a game yourself, highly recommend giving this (and his other vids) a watch. First impressions are crucial for us!

Surprise! New video about basic story structure for game trailers, common mistakes to avoid, and some examples of trailers with great storytelling. This one stems from months of working on a day long masterclass I gave recently in France 👀 Shares much appreciated 😊

I love the similarities and differences in my two favorite hobbies. Game dev is done indoors, my gardens are all outside. Yet both inspire the other. I love creating lush, vibrant scenery virtually and in reality. Now if only I can figure out how to get the framerate so good in my games...

A home garden with blooming zinnias and cosmos. Very green and floral.

I really hope I come to a point in my game dev career when systems work doesn't turn my brain into a toddler who refuses to slog through the hard parts.

🥳🥳🥳 Super excited to see that I hit 100 subs on YouTube this morning! Starting a YT channel this year has been such a delightful choice. I've had so many talented and passionate people comment and reach out to me with kind words, and I'm honored to be a part of the game dev community.

On top of a difficult week, I came home last night to find my little pride display in my front garden vandalized, the flags crushed or ripped apart. So naturally I ordered twice as many to replace them. Happy #Pride, especially to that man-baby in particular. ♥️ 🏳️‍🌈

It's telling that, of all the starter packs I've been in on Bluesky, it's the Gen AI-free game dev one that's gotten the most attention by FAR. It's comforting and refreshing to see such an outpouring of support for game devs not taking shortcuts with the plagiarism machine. I love you all ♥️
